HE'S A HUGE ATHLTHIC SG THAT'S WHO HE IS!!!

Wonder if we send him to Australia? D-League? He's 21 YO, looks ready for the NBA, are we getting rid of Rio?

This guy looks good, won some defensive awards and really stepped up his offense last year...need more time to scout him...

Damn summer league is going to be amazing this year

I don't think we will send him over seas unless something unforseen happens. Like he stinks in summer league or gets hurt. The Heat will continue to try and move Charlmers. Now that they filled the swing position without having to spend big money. It gives the Heat better flexible to keep much of the team intact. The point guard position is crowded, especially that Richardson played a lot of point.

Chalmers is pretty much done here. if we get the big from Sac then Birdman is too Get the feeling that Birdman might just retire than be a 1 year rental somewhere.

He does look like he can come in and compete with Justise/Ennis/Zoran for minutes straight away. If Napier/TJ can handle the point in Summer League then Rio has to be gone. Loyalty & all is fine, but if moving him allows us to cut the check for Wade, then pack his bags.

Bird probably has to be put in that same boat, we could probably sign McGee (who's not as good, or smart, as Bird) as a back-up for Whiteside for 1 year, or someone similar for a lot less than Bird would cost.

Goran/Napier/TJ
Wade/Richardson/Zoran
Deng/Justise/Ennis
Bosh/McBob/Beasley
Whiteside/Bird(FA)/UD

That's a great young group that could be a title contender in 1 or 2 years.

Looks like a nice utility man - long, athletic, good D and can play 1 to 3.
His shot looks pretty bad though

I doubt Deng is back but its not like this second rounder is going to do much, nor should anyone expect him to.

What I read of him is that he is a pure athlete who doesnt have a feel for offense and shooting.

I wish there was a third option on these guys where we could have them in D League and them not take up a roster spot. This needs to be in the new CBA. Overseas or roster spot is limiting.

Wow, I watched this last week and thought he seemed like a Riley kind of player, but figured he'd probably go undrafted.

I'm high on Josh Richardson as well. He was my second favorite possible pick at 40, the first being Dakari Johnson. Good athlete, good defender, competitor. Fits right in. Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson & James Ennis is a wing trio of great athleticism and defensive upside. I like it.

Apparently Riley thought he would go in the 1st round.

I really thought we were gonna go after another big

But its another guard

I am hoping this means we replace Rio...

A long guy who plays defense and is fiery

Man we basically got two guard blockers and athletic guys.... I really hope this is another change this season

Sadly I dont think this guy is on our roster, he is a stash. I would love to be proven wrong, but we have like what, 6-7 guards? Or who can play guard?

Riley is gonna have to clean house or something.

“If the combine was held today, and the invites went out, he would have been invited,” ESPN NBA draft insider Chad Ford said Wednesday “… He’s gotten into these workouts and passed the eye test there. I do think he will be drafted, and I think he will go anywhere between 40 and 60.”

You can find Richardson heading to the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 47 in Ford’s latest mock draft. DraftExpress predicts he will land with the Phoenix Suns at No. 44. NBA Draft Net sees him becoming a Milwaukee Buck at No. 46.

ESPN draft expert Fran Fraschilla also believes Richardson has proven he is a “safe, mid-second round pick” due to his to his size (6-foot-6, 200 pounds), his athleticism and his NBA-ready perimeter defense that showed in both Cuonzo Martin’s man defense and Donnie Tyndall’s zone.

“The first thing that jumps out at you when you talk about Josh is gradual improvement every single year at Tennessee, and then his senior year, he has to, through no fault of his own, become the Vols’ point guard, which I thought he handled the situation very well,” Fraschilla said Tuesday.

“He’s going to end up being more of a (shooting guard) than a (point guard). He improved his outside shooting, but because of his size and the fact that he has always hung his hat on being a very good defensive player in the backcourt, that’s where you’re going to see Josh. That’s going to be his best opportunity to make a team, as a wing defender who can play some point and has the potential to become a good NBA 3‑point shooter.”

Ford noted the 21-year-old Richardson also has caught the attention of NBA executives who rely on advanced statistics along with personal evaluations as they attempt to project a prospect’s NBA readiness. Richardson’s defensive prowess shows on paper, which shouldn’t be a surprise. But his ball handling and passing also are strong for a shooting guard, and his shooting percentage is high, especially when his feet are set. Since the college basketball season ended, DraftExpress has bumped Richardson up from No. 44 to No. 15 on its ranking of NCAA seniors in the draft.

He’s been helped by the analytics revolution,” Ford said. “With several analytics models, though not certainly all, the surprise to some is that even the numbers, the unbiased numbers — we don’t always agree on these things, it just depends on the formula and how you tweak it — have identified him as a sleeper, identified him as someone that may have been overlooked by scouting and caused people to go back, once he ranked so high on some of these analytics boards, to go back and re‑watch tape and pay closer attention to him.”

While UT’s 16-16 season and lack of tournament play robbed Richardson of opportunities to play in front of scouts as a senior, Ford and Fraschilla believe he made up ground during pre-draft workouts, a gauntlet that included auditions with more than 10 teams.

“One of the things that helps a guy like Josh is when he goes in and works out against players who are perceived to be picked higher in the draft,” Fraschilla said. “If he’s gone into a workout and worked out against a guy that a team is thinking about taking in the lottery, it’s a perfect opportunity for him to make his mark, especially defensively. And having a junkyard dog mentality, which he did have at Tennessee throughout his career, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s had good workouts and impressed teams on the defensive end because of that size and athleticism.”

He's a 1-2, Rio might be gone.

This kid certainly looks like he can make the roster. Would make a great addition to our D League team. Chalmers, Birdman, Henry Walker, Luol Deng, and Michael Beasley are on the roster bubble to free up salary.

C Hassan Whiteside
PF Chris Bosh-Josh McRoberts-Udonis Haslem
SF Justise Winslow-James Ennis
SG Dwyane Wade- Zoran Dragic-Josh Richardson
PG Goran Dragic- Shabazz Napier-Tyler Johnson

(3) Open roster spots

Need Backup Center and a couple of three point shooting wings on the cheap like Dorrell Wright etc.

Love the Richardson pick, watchout ...

I love that analysis, that's exactly what I was talking about maximizing assets, instead of reaching for Dekker at #10 we got someone that might end up just as good at #40, and got someone that could've went at #4 (Winslow was projected there just a few weeks ago).

Josh seems to have to size, defense and athleticism already.

I can bring a little analysis on Josh Richardson after watching him for 4 years at Tennessee. He came in as an athletic defender with no jump shot his freshman year. 2nd year he started developing his mid range game but his main role was defense. Junior year he expanded his range a little farther out to the 3pt line while inconsistent. He really blew up during the NCAA tournament that year and helped carry UT to the sweet sixteen while becoming a reliable scorer. Entering his senior year he was asked to play PG even though he had never played it before. He developed his ball handling and became a very reliable scorer. He has consistently improved every single year while still being able to defend at a high level. I think he will become a good 3&d guy in the NBA. He's a great character kid who went through a lot at Tennessee. He constantly expanded his game so I think he's a great pick and he's walking into a winning organization. Even though he was a 4 year player he still has good upside

I'm on the iPhone so I'm sure there are plenty of grammatical errors
