Heat All Time Team

Post#1 » by quinninin » Fri Jul 24, 2015 3:06 pm

Since there is no news right now, and Shaq Fo put out a challenge saying the Lakers all time team could beat the Bulls all time team, it made me think what is the Heat's all time team?

My 15

Starters
PG - Tim Hardaway
SG - Dwayne Wade
SF - Lebron James
PF - Chris Bosh
C - Shaq

Bench
PG - Goran Dragic
SG - Ray Allen
SG - Eddie Jones
SF - Steve Smith
SF - Glen Rice
SF- Caron Butler
PF - PJ Brown
PF - Udonis Halsem
C- Zo
C - Rony Seikaly

Surprises me how bad our PG's have been in franchise history, Goran easily is the 2nd best point guard we have ever had.

Gary Payton, Steve Smith, White chocolate, Bruce Bowen, Need I go on? These are good guards.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

PG: Tim Hardaway - Goran Dragic - Jason Williams
SG: Dwyane Wade - Eddie Jones - Steve Smith
SF: LeBron James - Glen Rice - Jamal Mashburn
PF: Chris Bosh - Udonis Haslem - Grant Long
C: Shaquille O'Neal - Alonzo Mourning - Rony Seikaly

Except for Steve Smith, Glen Rice and Rony Seikaly, all of these dudes arrived during the Riley Era. Amazing.

PG= Point Guard
So of the 4 you listed that would exclude Bruce Bowen and Steve Smith.

Yes Payton was an all time guard but we got 2 years out of him (his final 2), and he averaged 7.7 points and 3.2 assist in 82 games, with just 25 starts, in his best year with us.

Jason Williams was above average, but on the decline when he joined Miami again for two years.

I would start Zo instead of Shaq and add PJ Brown instead of Grant Long

My all time top 15 if they were all on the same team, at the levels they played when they were actually Heat players would be in no particular order:

Tim Hardaway
Eddie Jones
Glen Rice
Steve Smith
Dwayne Wade
Shaq
Mourning
Dan Majerle
Brian Grant
PJ Brown
Grant Long
Caron Butler
James Posey
Jason Williams
Jamal Mashburn
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Someone should make an all-time worst heat team thread.

Why, because he died? That's no reason to throw him on there, though the photo likely just gave Rex a hard-on.

It was very unfortunate what happened to Wayne Simien to end his career before it took off. Although a bit nonathletic, he was a very skilled post player. Reminded me of David West a little bit.

Wayne Simien, who has missed the Miami Heat's last 10 games, isn't injured or in coach Pat Riley's doghouse.

He has been saddled with what doctors believe is a recurrence of the Salmonella bacteria that prevented him from playing in last year's NBA Finals.

"Wayne's doing fine," Simien's mom, Margaret, reported Wednesday from the former Kansas University power forward's childhood home in Leavenworth. "It's just that Salmonella he had last year in July kind of easing its way back again. He was on medication last summer for a month and a half and it all cleared up.

"Some of the same symptoms started coming back, so now he's having tests run. He's on medication. Hopefully this time it will get it taken care of. They are thinking he may not have been on medication long enough the last time."

Doctors are being cautious with Simien because they don't want a repeat of last summer's symptoms, which caused Simien to lose 30 pounds and almost miss his own wedding.

When we're talking about this.... are we talking about the player, or the type of player they were when they were here? I see Shaq at starting C for most posts here but when I think of Shaq in a Heat uniform I think of past-prime Shaq. He could still play when he came obviously, but Zo was in his prime when he first came here, spent 7 years. For that alone I'd put him over Shaq. Ripped it up here when he was in his prime. Came back, was the 2nd best center in the 2006 finals lol.

C: Zo/Shaq/Seikaly
PF: Bosh/UD/PJ Brown
SF: LeBron/Glen Rice/Caron (maybe Posey..?)
SG: Wade/Eddie Jones/Steve Smith
PG: Hardaway/Goran (our PG position really was bad... we have had too many rentals, Goran will be here for 5 years, thats better than 85% of all our other PGs lmao, Rio dont count pfft)/White Chocolate...?

that all time C position no matter the order is actually pretty beastly.

Some of ya'll forgetting UD too... before his injury in 2011 and even before that, he was great. The last few years (besides some epic games like vs the Pacers) may cloud some of our judgment of who is he now.

How are you guys putting Dragic on these lists? He hasn't done anything yet. Might as well put Marion and Brent Barry on there as well.

For another PG I'd put Sherman Douglas over him until he actually does something.
