Your Miami Heat take on the Brooklyn Nets tonight, Monday, 7:30, at our home, American Airlines Arena. The Miami Heat are 18-11 and are just off an impressive win against Orlando where we almost played to the level of our reputation. We can be even better and my hope is that we come out against the Nets as strong as we finished against the Magic and never look back. We need FOUR quarters of great basketball to beat anyone in this league. There are no sure things anymore. We need to work for every one of these.

I see "We" here because it really is about everyone here. Bosh & Wade and the others do it on the court, but it's all about us to keep the chain strong. This team is learning to win in tough situations and so must we. Let's keep it positive.

Strategic situation: We are in 3rd place, half a game behind the Hawks and a couple games behind the Cavaliers who just got scorched by the Trailblazers (without Lillard!) It's very simple really. We need to win games. The Nets are not a good enough team to beat us and we can't lose as long as we play ALL FOUR quarters. Let's get it done!

Here are some other games happening among our competitors tonight:

Indiana vs Atlanta (a Miami win combined with an Atlanta loss puts us in 2nd place)
Toronto vs Chicago (Toronto is right on our heels)
Charlotte should beat Lakers (Charlotte can break into top 8 with a win)
Orlando should beat Pelicans (Orlando could jump to 6th)

It's clear how important it is to keep winning with such a tight race.

Our guests, the Brooklyn Nets (8-22):

Jack, Johnson, Bogdanovic, Young, Lopez

A team with such a good starting lineup should be doing a lot better. Honestly, I don't know what's up with the Nets. They've lost a lot of games, some to terrible teams... Some of their closest losses though were against the Cavs (referee assisted) and an overtime loss to the Warriors. Their record is cold disgusting garbage that sticks to your hand and smells like a XXX movie theater urinal in a 3rd world country. The reality is something else, but it's beyond my power to decipher.

Bench: (pretty decent bench fwiw)

Shane Larkin - The guy from the Knicks. Not a bad backup PG. This year he's also taking 3s and is 17/35. His ORTG and DRTG are the best of his career.
Andrea Bargnani - He's a pretty bad defender in the power rotation but he makes up for some of it with his scoring.
Wayne Ellington - A career 38% 3 point shooter despite is 31% this year. Against the league he's a good shooter. Against the Heat he's an immortal unless we can keep him away from open 3s.
Donald Sloan - Journeyman wing player. He's having a decent year for the Nets.
Willie Reed - Our guy. He's pretty good for them. He'll give Whiteside and Bosh some trouble.
Thomas Robinson - A player I really like but who hasn't found his space yet. Hasn't found it on the Nets either.
Markel Brown - doesn't play much lately but he's a backup guard
Sergey Karasev - A backup shooter who also doesn't play much lately

Injuries:

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - One of the bright young rookies (very good defender) is out with a fractured ankle
Chris McCullough - knee injury

I wanted us to go 4-0 in our 4 games in 5 nights stretch. So far we're 2-0, I want 4 straight wins.

This game should be a W. The only thing standing between us and 4 straight victories is Mario Chalmers.

I will always remember the reaction of the Nets fan when they beat us in 2013 and it was like they were going to win an NBA Championship : specially that guy

After some digging, as i wanted to make fun of this guy for obvious reason.
It was that guy who got ejected at the Madison Square Garden. He died few weeks after

We all expect to win this game

When that happens, usually the opposite happens. This team can win the next two if they are motivated, end the year on a good note!

Also Atlanta has won every game I believe since losing to us and are now right in tbe thick of it as the 2nd seed... I hope we can win the division down the road

I just like it when we have the fewest in the L column, which we do right now (other than Cleveland obviously), means if we take care of business we'll have the seed we want. Obviously way too early to worry about seeding, but yeah, I consider us the 2nd seed til we have equal or more in the L column of whoever's ahead of us.

I'm really hoping Justice can keep improving from distance. If he can become at least an adequate shooter it really opens things up for us. He's the long term guy anyways, I'd like to maybe see Green back but Deng's gone after this season, though I wonder if Deng will even be able to command much on the open market anyways.

Dwyane Wade's finishing skills still strong for Heat

To fully grasp Wade's impact these days, perhaps baseball analogies work best. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra sounded like a ballpark manager Saturday as he praised Dragic, Bosh, Whiteside and Gerald Green for essentially taking care of the early innings and middle relief until Wade emerged from the bullpen.

"If we're in a game in striking distance or we have a lead, that gets him up even more," Bosh said of Wade. "We did our jobs and kept the team afloat, and he was able to bring us home. We have our identity down. We know who we are. If we're true to ourselves, we'll stay with it."

It doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks, the Heat know and accept their order. It usually ends with Wade having the final word.
