I would like to take the opportunity to share my thoughts on Dwyane while I wish him a great birthday.
I've got to admit, my admiration for Wade took a hit lately.
I was always a HUGE fan of him, My favorite player since he came to league, someone I really looked up to as a younger player myself , couldn't say enough good things about him. Really was my biggest sports hero in a time it meant a lot to me.
lately, I just felt a bit disappointed in the fact that his focus seemed do drift away from the game and into fashion and other crap I don't care for. It wasn't really the decline in play that turned me off, that's to be expected from any athlthe, but his mindset did put me off a bit because I felt he's simply too great, too talented, to settle for his past (awesome) achievements, I really wanted him to keep his hunger because I wanted him to be the best he still can, and because I felt his legacy deserved it.
With that said I remind myself that Dwayne not only stayed a Heatlifer despite the salary/role difficulties, he really scarified his body just to able to still be playing in a high level after all the injuries he went through. And while he's probably not that excited about some regular season games these days, I know in my heart that when money time comes, the lion Wade, the fierce competitor, The heart of Heat nation will rise to the occasion and give it all like he always did. He's truly a once in a life time player, and I was lucky to follow his journey for all these years.
So Happy B-day to my (still) hero, the guy that helped build this franchises and my own love for the game.
Thanks for reading.
