I hate spo as much as the next guy. But seeing how teams fire their coaches left and right each season, kinda proud of us by sticking to our guns.

Disclaimer: Not advocating support for Spo.

Sticking by a poor choice is nothing to be proud of.

Although Spo is not quite on the same level as Pops, Carlisle, Kerr, Doc and Budenholzer, he is not half bad either. As long as Thibs is not turning up on our doorstep, I cannot see why we want to remove him in the absence of a better alternative.

As Ethan tweeted recently, "because he can coach." Criticisms of his performance have often rung hollow. Mostly it comes down to complaints about substitution patterns, or refusal to play fan favorites that analytics suggest shouldn't be played. See Beasley and now Whiteside.

The truth of the matter is that he's got a lot of respect in the coaching community, and if we ever let him go, he'd be quickly scooped up got another head coaching gig. Then he'd come back and smack us around a few times each year, probably with a younger, healthier roster. No thanks. It's the grass is greener complex that leads to rash decisions and poor results. I don't know what Spo is supposed to have done with the rosters he's had the last two seasons. We've has a couple dumb losses this year, when healthy, but that's going to happen to every team over the course of 82 games. When our guard and power rotations are banged up like they are lately, I'm not sure how we're supposed to win either. Plus, we have no outside shooting in a league migrating to the arc. I don't think the criticism will end anytime soon, but I assume a HoF coach as GM and president is able to understand the circumstances and base his decision on that. We'll see. For now, I just how we can get healthy and back to winning soon.

The only reason coaches of other teams praise Spoelstra is so that Riley sticks with Spo as coach of the Heat. Other coaches know that if they play against Spoelstra, it's an easy win. Wake the **** up, Riley!

Available evidence says otherwise. The running joke used to be "how many all stars does Lebron need to win a championship?" ... now it's "how many all stars does Spo need to advance past the 1st round of the playoffs?"

What coach is not respected in the coaching community? Honestly its not the grass is greener its more like reality and looking at his actual performance. Pre Lebron it was hero Ball with Wade. With Lebron and Bosh we underperformed. We won on pure talent not coaching sadly. How many times would Lebron see things and coach the team with Spo saying it was his call then later be questioned about it. ( Our own reports questioned him because they know hes not that good, let that sink in). The simple concept of feeding the hot hand has eluded our head coach for so many years now its like a prideful sign of ignorance. If Spo coached Curry he would watch him hit 4 3pters then sub him out. You know what im even willing to give him a pass on part of this because its not like our coaching staff is that great either. I cant understand why we cant hire the best assistant coaches money can buy to help our coach? The Warriors liked Kerr but surrounded him with some of the best assistant coaches money can buy to make sure he succeeds.

bingo

I guarantee you there isn't a person on this board critical of Spo, who could describe what offensive set we just ran on a play beyond "why is that guy shooting?!" .

Is any of what you said backed up by...anything? When has Spo ever taken credit for player suggestions? He credited Wade and Lebron before. I've never heard anyone claim that before.

If we won on pure talent, why didn't we win in 2011? How did that offense transform into the ultra efficient best of the next 3 years? Also, why did the best Lebron ever only exist during those seasons? You're seriously going to call it a coincidence?

Underperforming to 4 out of 4 Finals? I'm not sure what you're really expecting from a HC, so whatever. I think we look at the game differently.

What running joke? Fans usually lack perspective. Spurs fans crucified Pop in 2013. Thibs was all but run out of town last year. The grass is always greener on the other side. Given most fans don't understand coaching anyway, it's hard to put much credence into their suggestions. Coaching is more than substitution patterns.

No one finds it absurd to think they can do a better job assessing Spo than Riley? I mean, there's such a thing as taking oneself too seriously, and we often blow past that line in these coaching discussions. Pat fired Stan. He'd fire Spo too when the time came.

Nepotism.

The article called it "family first" which it is. The Heat are well known for this.

You don't need to be a basketball savant to know why some people receive preferential treatment at work.
