When: 8:30 PM EDT Mar. 23rd 2016
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

Image

Miami (41-29, 3rd place in the East, 18-16 on the road. Miami is on the second leg of a back to back)
San Antonio Spurs (59-11, 2nd place in the West, 35-0 at home. Spurs lost their last game in Charlotte and will be looking for redemption.)

The Spurs have not lost in AT&T Center since last year in the playoffs (2 losses to the Clippers). They last lost a regular season game there against the Cavaliers in March.

Luol Deng

Our coach: Erik Spoelstra

Notes:

For the Heat, Chris Bosh & Tyler Johnson will miss the game.

The Heat have added the excellent Joe Johnson since our last game.
The Spurs have added veterans Kevin Martin & Andre Miller since our last game.

The Spurs have no injuries.

Boban Marjanovic is in the D-League
Jonathan Simmons is in the D-League

Spurs Starters:

PG: Tony Parker
SG: Danny Green
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF: Lamarcus Aldridge
C: Tim Duncan

Manu Ginobili
Patty Mills
Boris Diaw
David West
Kyle Anderson
Matt Bonner
Andre Miller

If Duncan rests, you may see Boris Diaw start. The Spurs have been avoiding Aldridge/Duncan pairings against small ball lineups. Diaw started against Golden State in the Spurs victory and Duncan only played 8 minutes. It will be interesting to see how we approach this game. I suspect that Spo already has a plan for beating them. In our last game the Spurs led for the last 27 minutes of the game and beat us by 18, and of course that was in Miami.

Strategic Situation:

The Heat have won two important games after the loss last week to Charlotte, but remain in a close race with the Hawks, Hornets, and Celtics for the 3-6 spots. This will likely go on for at least a week, perhaps longer.

The Hawks have 2 games against a Wizard team (both in Washington) who are desperate to make the playoffs. They also have two games against the Cavaliers, two against the Raptors, and one against the Celtics. It looks like a tough schedule. The Wizards are very motivated to get into the playoffs and it's our good luck we don't have to play them now.

Ours we’ve spoken about exhaustively. It is challenging as well with away games against the Spurs, Pistons, Celtics, and Trailblazers. We also play the Pistons & Bulls at home. There are 3 games with Orlando who play tougher against us than most other teams.

Aside from a midweek matchup with the Raptors, the Celtics have an easy time of it this upcoming week. The week after sees them (like us) heading west.

Most of the upcoming Hornets games are easy, but Charlotte has a ton of road games coming up. Their 900 game home stand is over and we should see their position tumble a bit. They aren't very good on the road... except against the Heat apparently.

The Pacers, Bulls, and Pistons all have fairly easy schedules and I'm thankful for the small buffer we have against them. These 3 teams and Washington will be fighting for the last two places in the playoffs. Again, I'm glad we're not in it and we better not slip up.

Here are the relevant schedules/records of our competitors:

--------

Historic record with San Antonio:

18-38 (ouch) Regular Season
We are 15-14 at home. In San Antonio we are 3-24.

Our last regular season win in San Antonio was Mar 31, 2013. Before that you have to go back to Nov 7, 2008.

5-7 in the post season and of course we are 1-1 in series battles.

Our last postseason win was June 8, 2014. Chris Bosh made a 3 pointer to take the lead with about a minute to play and then we ground them down. It is not easy to win in San Antonio. That's for sure.

Nothing is impossible for us, though. Why?

Because we are the MIAMI HEAT!!!

If we can actually hit some 3s and get a better game (on both ends) from Deng, we can win. Lets go Heat!

Hopefully Dragic's ankle doesn't act up, might be sore due to phucking Bill Kennedy.

What happened to his ankle? Didn't watch the game, only a few minutes here and there.

Close to the Heat bench, he tripped over Bill Kennedy's foot when he was trying to catch up to the action. Dragic was going backwards or sideways? While he wasn't looking, Bill just ran into him. :nonono:

But it aint nothing serious, just might be sore tomorrow which we cant afford to have.
