My first is still just a bun in the oven, but my wife says that counts.

We're a bit more excited for a girl, but health is all that really matters. Both our families have not had success staying healthy, so we're trying to start a new trend;)

Boy or Girl doesn't matter - As long as it doesn't come out a Kaminsky, you're good.

Congrats!

Not only that, but being active since very young age has a huge impact on motor skills as well as IQ.

I'm about to get my MA degree in educational sciences (one exam left to go) and my dissertation is basically about how (lack of) sports and being active in general affects children. Comparing PE test results from just 10 years ago to the latest ones has me shocked, to say the least. Majority of kids today are fat, slow, lack the most basic motor skills and they're generally stupid. Their stupidity is outmatched only by that of their (too-young-to-have-kids) parents. It's a sad sight and I only hope it's not as bad in other countries as it is over here ... But I doubt it. This **** is going to get a lot worse before it gets good again.

So parents, don't put pillows on every part of your apartment. Let's your kids fall down sometimes so they learn the basic concept of how to shield your head with your hands when they suffer a hard fall at older ages. Encourage them to play sports or at least take walks in nature - sitting them in front of TV or PC for hours on end just to have some peace and quite is seriously hurting them in the long run.

This is just a general rant, I have no doubt you're going to be a great and cool parent, DoM. 8-)

I hope so. My wife seems pretty convinced...based on how well-trained our dog is! (I did all the dog training)

The only activities we're determined on for our kids are some form of self defense training and swimming lessons. The rest is up to them as far as which types of social activities/team sports they choose.
