" "SADDDDDDD!!!! SO saddddddd! I will never forget the sixth game in Dallas in 2006. DW rebounded the ball, and threw it to the heavens and the Heat universe was perfect for that moment. Our first world championship. Our universe is not perfect today. It will be fraught with anger, judgment, blame instead of THANK YOU!!! Ten years ago. Ten years older. Ten years wiser. Ten years changed. All of us. Dwyane had a choice, and he made it. He went home. Bad, bad summer for us. But there will be another 10 years, and it will be someone or something else in 2026. Move on with no blood or tears. Just thanks. I truly loved Dwyane, but families grow, change and get on with another life. He will always be a part of us. ALWAYS! And no more bruises and enough fighting. Let’s just fly above it if we can and never forget. I feel his pain and pride for what pushed him over the ledge. Been there. Forever, for always, your coach I will be. FOREVER!"

The Daily News article tried to frame it as a negative, but I don't see much wrong with that. Riles seems genuinely torn up about the whole thing but isn't angry or holding any sort of grudge. I think that sums up how most Heat fans feel, really.

"...Dwayne had a choice and he made it..." He had to made a choice because you did not show any respect to this livin legend.

The all caps and superfluous use of exclamation points reminds me of how my 65 year old father posts stuff on facebook.

It is not about money it is about constant disrespectful attitude towards him in every next contract summer.

Disrespect?? The Heat paid him millions of dollars, always worked hard to have a competitive team around him, he always had a choice to take more money and not be able to play with his buddies and not win some more rings, rings that for sure played a role on his contracts with the Chinese shoe's manufacturer, we could not tied our hands for three more years overpaying for an old Wade obviously on the decline, even with Wade on this team we were not winning anything, we needed to rebuild and this move definitely made the process a little shorter, all teams go through this situations, there is no disrespect here at all, when Zo had to leave and go to the Nets both sides understood the situation and none of this drama and tweeter crap. I think it was beneficial for both sides to move on.

He's gone, as is the era of staying with one team - time for Riley to work his magic again

A retirement is needed for Riley Asap. Good luck trying to get guys like CP3 or Westbrook to play down here. This is a players league now & as of right now he has a bad rep.

As we are entitled to. Riley screwed with Wade too many times. As some one said - its a players league - with wade and Lebrun gone - no ones signing down in Miami anymore. Total disrespect

Gilbert did everything except call LeBron his property and he still went running back to Cleveland. Those spineless punks in LA did nothing but turn their jerseys inside out when their racist owner got exposed, players still flock. Riley might as well be a saint, he and the Heat will be ok in the long run.
