So the question is should Miami make an aggressive play to try to attain his services?

Utah has yet to get the returns they expected from their highly drafted PG Dante Exum and could use an upgrade. And with the recent rumors that Miami maybe willing to move Dragic, it presents a trade scenario that is positionally reasonable and works financially.

The trade that I successfully mocked in ESPN's Trade Machine was Haywood and Exum for Dragic and Winslow.

Obviously Miami isn't going too be keen on the idea of moving their young stud in Winslow but considering they'd be replacing him with Haywood and also attaining a young PG who also has great upside in Exum, might they be willing to make a dramatic change? Should they?

Yes, because I reckon it's a reasonable and viable consideration for the aforementioned reasons.

I like Winslow just as much as the rest of the biased fan-base, but I don't envision him as the next Kawhi or Paul George like some of the most fantastical Heat optimists do. And Goran is on the wrong side of 30 and his propensity of getting nicked up has always concerned me. There's obviously the possibility of him getting moved. Rather than just to look to recoup draft picks, which even if they pan out will elongate the process of contention, I think Mia, knowing Riley's track record of having a 'win-now' attitude, would be better served to land a proven asset who can assume the roll as the first scoring option which is what they'd be getting in Haywood. And the bonus of the deal is that Miami still gets a high upside project who's on a salary cap friendly contract in Exum who many people thought might be the best draft prospect over Wiggins and Parker just a few years ago.

Haywood is not a 1st option, hell i dont think he is a 2nd option. Add to that he is not a good defender either. & then we do this only so we could have the right to max him out next year.

If god forbid Winslow somehow disappears from our roster, or somehow pat sees a glimpse of the future in the next 6 months and it turns out Winsolow will never be anything more than an avarage starter, then yes.

So even tho I like him as a player. No.

Valid point, but consider that there have been rumors about Mia's interest in another pending FA in Rudy Gay. I understand that rumors are unsubstantiated but I'm simply raising the idea of an alternate trade scenario that includes a player who mans the same position as Gay, who also is set to become a FA in the offseason, and, imo, is significantly a better player.

I'm also curious to find out how Mia's fanbase values Winslow. Hypothetically, in a alternative NBA universe without salary caps and financial ramifications , would do trade Winslow straight up for Gordon? Or how bout How bout Dragic for Gordon?

BTW, I think Exum is getting lost in this discussion. He is young and has a ton of potential and if he were to eventually reach it, this trade would be a bargain for Mia. IMO, he has every bit the upside as Winslow if not more. Might be the ultimate buy low player.

Team has fared better than say Sacramento with Cousins as a first option, yet we can probably agree that Cousin is the best C in basketball. So your point falls flat.

Gordon is a great player, but I would still keep Winslow. Players like him who are so advanced on the defensive end so early don't come around often, and it looks like his shot is coming around(hopefully). And a Dragic for Gordon trade is a little more realistic, but then we're back in the same position we've been in the last few years and that's without a pg. What I'm trying to say is I wouldn't trade our pieces for Gordon.

2) NO. Hayward is a free agent after this season anyways so we can sign him using our cap space.

Wrong, question is about Utah not Sacramento. Neither are playoff teams. Cousins has all-stars, all nba, and olympic accolades to his name. Wtf does Gordon Hayward have for you to think that was a good comparison?

I think he either resigns with Utah for max and more years or joins his college coach Stevens in Boston.
