Bumpy Thread (Tyler Johnson)

Lets give it up for the NBA player voted most likely to get hit in the face by his peers

One of the few bright spots of the season, Tyler has been averaging 16.3/4.0/3.6/1.0/1.4 (Points/Boards/Assists/Steals/Blocks) on 49.2/44.4/80.0 splits in 31.1 minutes his last 10 games.

How do you think he has preformed since getting his shiny new contract? I thought it was an easy match, even considering the structure of the contract. He's only going to get better and we couldn't let talent walk for no reason. The cat is UD in a guards body, got Heat Lifer written all over him. Time to bump his MPG to around 38 and start him tbh, dude can handle it.

Basically everyone who doesn't watch the Heat. His name is constantly brought up when discussing overpaid players.

Dude is a stud. He's capable of being our starting SG for the future even though Spo will keep him as the 6th man.

I hope Dragic gets traded, then would like to se Tyler and Josh start together. If the Heat don't get a guard or a wing in the draft, I think Tyler and Josh will coincide well with Winslow next year.

TJ has been one of the only bright spots in an otherwise miserable basketball year for me.

Personally, the main reason my enthusiasm for the NBA is really down is not because we're having a down year, I can handle losing.

The reason it's hard to get hyped nowdays is the feeling it's all purely about the money and taking the easy way. It's all about temporary convenience and cash - Wade leaving the way he did and KD joining GSW are 2 of the prime examples of the new culture that is just killing my vibe.

TJ to me is a throw back, a reason to really believe and support a kid that is all heart, desire, hard work and character. A kid we found out of nowhere and developed, someone that we hopefully could always root for because of who he is and his story for the rest of his career.

In the words of the wise shanedude : "TJ is the UD of guards".

For me, He can become the new Haslem in an era when all the Haslems are long gone.

Resurrecting this thread to remind those of you who don't watch Heat games how good Tyler Johnson is:

That should get you started.

Tyler is on a 4/50 contract, playing for a little less than Waiters just signed. It's set up with a poison pill so the last two seasons are $19M each. The Heat and TJ can renegotiate the contract in July 2019 (after the third year) for more years for a higher value, so the $19M cap hit should only be one year. I'm not really sure that it's excessive anyhow. TJ was often our best closer, played nearly every fourth quarter minute, and fights every moment on the court. You guys that want to trade him (some of whom are otherwise intelligent realgm posters) are wrong here. I agree with Mickey. We have to keep this guy.
