Compete or Draft For 2018?
Might be a little early to make this thread but do you guys think we should make non-competitive moves to keep our 2018 draft pick or sign the best player(s) we can? I'd rather that we try to enter the 2018 NBA lottery. Teams can almost no longer win through free agency since the best FAs are usually better off(mainly because of money) staying with their teams due to the new CBA. Looks like next years draft will be more PF heavy at the top than this year's NBA draft so might be worth it to wait till the 2018 off-season to make any big signings.

I just can't grasp the concept of doing what Philly did, which is utterly disgusting at best IMHO. Yes I know they've been doing it for 2 millenniums and we wouldn't but still almost the same mentality.
We make the best moves possible given the opportunity. I mean this season, is different. Due to our players being injured (and the Bosh situation) etc... So it does makes sense to ride out this season with injuries and try to get the best pick in the draft. So I am team tank, but at what cost? A short cost, a year minimum to recuperate and build something great with our young core and pick.

We go for playoffs next year. Get top five pick and use the potenial 40 plus million in free agent money wisely. Our record does no reflect how close we are to breaking through. Give this team a top 5 pick at PG. Get a real scoring SF and PF. We are right back in the thick of things.

But who's out there we can sign next off-season? Millsap will probably stay with the Hawks and I don't see Hayward leaving a top 4 team in the west for a fringe playoff team. Our best signing next off-season could be us signing James Johnson for $15,000,000. The Bucks and 76ers are also improving so us getting back into the playoffs won't be as easy as it seems. If we want to make it back to the Finals then we either need a superstar(easiest to do through the draft) or build a team with smart players like the Spurs.

Me either. That's not what we do. We've already been mediocre for three years. Enough is enough. I'm not sure next year's draft will be as loaded as this one. DeAndre Ayton, Wendell Carter, Michael Porter, and Justin Patton are the only ones worth looking at. Miami needs to cash in as much as possible in this draft while building for the future. The NBA Draft is the priority, followed by free agency, followed by internal growth.
Everyone looks like a god in high school. What, does he play next to Hassan Whiteside? If he blossoms, but that would mean he's a Top 5 pick, way out of our range.

I'd be happy with a combo of Gallinari and Gay. I think that seems attainable. I think Gay-Winslow would compliment each other nicely. Gallinari and James Johnson would also be a nice combo at the 4. Throw in a top 5 pick in the backcourt and I'll take my chances and hope Winslow, TJ, and Rich continue to grow with Dragic grooming our top 5 pick.

I don't think its a good idea to tank multiple years in a row.

I'd prefer focusing on player development next year, if it nets a top pick in 2018 so be it. Knowing this franchise though, more than likely they'll gun for the playoffs next year.

We could have made the playoffs this year, if we come in with better health next year we'll have a chance depending on how different our team is

Next year Fultz and Whiteside bring the NBA championship back to Miami. No more tank after this season

Stay away from Blake Griffin? What? If you have the cap space and he's interested, YOU SIGN BLAKE GRIFFIN.
Don't be daft.

Look at his injury history. Wade looks like Lebron compared to him. Bad fit with Hassan and Winslow.

Re: Compete or Draft For 2018?
We are not tanking.... All jokes aside... we just have had serious injury plagued years. In addition to the CBA reducing free agency as a means of team building. I think we are doing great with the hand Heat was given. We still compete and I do not see that changing.

Look at his injury history. Wade looks like Lebron compared to him. Bad fit with Hassan and Winslow.
Blake Griffin, an athletic power forward with a developing midrange jump shot who's spent his entire career playing next to DeAndre Jordan, an athletic shotblocker and interior defensive presence, is a bad fit with Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow? I didn't know Dwyane Wade, who's played less than 70 games in a season a full six out of the fourteen seasons he's played, looks like LeBron compared to Blake Griffin, who's only done it twice in seven seasons he's played.
I left out the 66-game season for obvious reasons, but it should be noted that Wade still found a way to miss 17 games that year. Blake started and played all 66.
I'm not sure injury history is where you want to go when comparing the two players.
