Not that it matters either way. Hayward's not leaving a better Utah team in his prime or passing up the chance to team up with his old coach in Boston. As big a pipe dream as KD was.

Looks like the Heat are stuck. We don't really have players that attract free agents. Need to make a trade for a whale!! I consider Lillard a whale that would attract other players.

The main FA target is the same as last year. Pat always aims for the biggest prize available.

What could that get us? A second rounder and some BS? I'm assuming we'd want all that salary off the books after this year.

That's a major salary to take on, gom. I figure Pat will want to wipe the slate as clean as possible for player acquisition (not Deng).

The Houston 1st isn't juicy enough to take that kind of rim job assault with Deng's contract.

What else ya got?

For Ellington and McRoberts and Babbitt...

not much.

For them, if you want a pick, you have to take salary back. You could get Crabbe or Joaquim Noah. Shall I go on? I'm dumping the 6.7M of McRoberts too.

Deng on the Heat was a different player the same that Joe Johnson was a different player. Our system helped them. It will again.

Spoiler:
Deng doesn't look that bad now. ;-)

Dragic - Waiters - McGruder - Deng - Hassan Whiteside

Tyler Johnson (G), Josh Richardson (G/SF), WIllie Reed (F/C), James Johnson (F), Thomas Robinson (PF), Okaro White (SF)

Winslow back for the playoffs? We would also have an extra roster space and then another once Chris is waived on March 1.

I vaguely remember having an argument with Flash4thewin last year about how much I would pay Deng per year. I said 8 million, and he got 18 million. I was way off, but if you look at his awful numbers this year then you could say that my salary number was actually an overpay. That contract would be the king of all albatross contracts. Rodan, if you will.

I don't have to have a pick, I was just speculating as to what we could get. My thoughts were a 2nd rounder and some BS. Isn't Eagleton's contract a 1+1? So that means that only McBob's extends past this year.

I don't think adding Deng, who is 32 this coming season with a ton of minutes on his wheels, would be a worthwhile endeavor. I expect that the combo of Eagle/McBob would be to have maximum space this offseason for the whale hunter. (Not that I expect to land a proven whale, but at least we'd be capable.)
