Starting Five Season 2017/18

I am trying to figure out who our high value surpluses are that we can pawn for some draft picks. The bottomline is: everyone who is neither in our starting 5 nor younger than 25yo should be on this list. Having says that, who should be our starting five?

Tyler Johnson pretty much volunteered to be trade filler taking that contract. I'd be surprised if we look for draft picks rather than packaging to trade up.

If our entire starting 5 comes from that list it means something went wrong this summer.
We need to add talent, especially at PF/SF.
James Johnson and Okaro White have done great, but they're not starters on a contender.
PG : Dragic
SG : Maybe TJ (borderline starter on a great team IMO, but he's still learning)
SF : Justise (hoping he can make the jump with his scoring)
PF : _______
C : Hassan
So we'll be left with this bench :
Rich
McGruder
Ellington
James Johnson
Okaro
*Dion and Reed will be gone IMO.
Our bench is way too Guard heavy, so trading Ellington for a PF should be on our minds.
James Johnson should be a keeper based on his position and performance.

Who is signing up to take that off our hands? Maybe the last year

I'm thinking the contract would be used to help match salaries since we have so many low salaries if we were targeting an allstar in a trade. You are right, no one would trade that contract straight up at the moment.

I heard the Bulls want Bosh. Perhaps we can package him with TJ/Ellington for Mirotic, McDermott, a first round pick and fillers (Jerian Grant perhaps?)

I don't have a problem with McGruder staying in the starting lineup with Dragic, Whiteside, and Waiters. Rodney reminds me of an Andre Roberson type. Just a good all-around glue guy.
I'd like for us to add a power forward, either in the draft or free agency, and keep James Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, and Josh Richardson, though I do recognize that that is a glut of bench wings and we might be better served to trade a couple of them for some power depth. Perhaps a deal involving Ellington and Richardson for some power depth would help us out, a bit. I'd love to keep Reed too, but I'm not sure I see it happening.
At any rate, a core of:
Dragic / TJ
Waiters /
McGruder / Winslow
free agent/draft pick / JJ
Whiteside / free agent/trade
Is what I'm looking for. I think we can work with that.

We gotta sell high. Ellington must go.
