What do we do with him? His shot selection kind of hurts us but great defender. Do we bring him off the bench, trade him, get him a shooting coach??

I'm kinda meh on him right now. Like, he feels like he should easily become a 20/5/5 guy... but I can see him struggling to be 10/5/5, and you have to be an all-time great defender to make that worth it. Obviously we have to wait and see what he does next year, but if he doesn't immediately start hitting his threes at at least a 35% clip and free throws at 75%, its time to start questioning if he's ever going to do it.

What Tim said. He still didnt play majority of this season, so only has a season and couple of months in his career so far. If no improvements are made by next-season, ship imo.

He will be Shaved 2.0, if not better

Don't know if he will start, depends what happens in free agency. Doesn't really matter tho, he'll get his minutes somehow

I say keep him for now,and see how he does with another offseason of work and a regular season to develop.

However if a star name becomes available during the offseason for lets say a Carmelo Anthony,I think you trade him.

With Melo you know you're gonna get a 20 PPG 5 REBS 5 ASSTS player.(Maybe even 25 PPG in our system and the open 3 pointers he'd get with us).

With Winslow we don't know what we're gonna get.

I say keep him and continue to bring him along slowly. Make him earn his way into the starting lineup off the bench. Would be great to sign a veteran SF this offseason to make that happen.

After that three game streak you predicted to finish the season, I'm inclined to just agree with you on everything now. Winslow will keep our wins high in the future.

he gets a pass from me this season since he hurt his shooting hand (wrist) in preseason IIRC.

no excuse not to improve his shooting drastically from the bottom of the NBA level next season. we'll see

Its way too early, he had only a month to START developing his offense. I think people expected too much of his offense and didnt realize how undeveloped he was offensively. He is very much like Artest, he has to find his nitch and as well as get better in a lot of areas.

He is going to get a lot better, he was hampered by his injury obviously. It sucks that he missed a whole year of development, but he will be motivated.

Lol thanks DoM :)

Just ignore my thoughts on McBob tho...my expectations for him may have been a touch high

besides game time he has been with the team 2 full years for training, practice, film study, workouts. He has plenty of time to work on his shot and to tweak his game. Next year is it. I beleive he will be a role player similar to Marcus Smart. Celtics has given up on him being a starter or leader for the future and he has accepted the defender off the bench role. He makes a few winning plays and they are fine with that. Winslow might not be what we wanted him to be but as a spot defender he is usefull. Now if Winslow has a JJ season then max him but as it stands you dont sell the farm for a cow not producing milk. Include Jrich as he gets no free pass, he is still not back to where he left off last season, timid and shaky shot. Heat need to make some tough decisions.

Winslow has to become a good jump shooter. If not, I think he has potential to be the next Tony Allen.

His development is crucial for our future imo, because we don't have great upside.

I think he needs to improve his mid-range game and finishing around the basket with more urgency than developing a 3pt shot. That can come eventually but if he can score at the rim and have a respectable mid-range game, he can do some D-Wade type of things for us as a playmaker. He could be the finisher we need at end of games. His FT% needs to be in the 70's also. The 3pt shot is less important at this time IMO.

I think he already has a decent mid-range game, the problem is without that 3 pt threat people would dare him to shoot outside and expect him to drive to the basket. It's much easier to defend when you know what you're opponent is going to do.

I don't know what Winslow you were watching offensively but he hasn't been consistent from anywhere on the court, and that includes shots at the rim. Winslow can get to the rim like few which is why I think he needs to be more consistent finishing there. Very few in the league develop a mid-range game. Look at what Demar Derozan has done with is mid-range game plus his finishing at the rim. He only shoots 26% from 3pt but he is a key playmaker for his team in the mold of what Wade was for us before. I think Winslow moves around with the basketball and can get to his spots with ease, he just needs to work on finishing. I still want him to develop a 3pt shot but IMO is not as critical. Developing him into a 3&D would be a waste of his talents. Let's get him to where he becomes a playmaker for us.

Make him a full time power forward. Let him be JJ or Draymond Green.

The sooner we stop fighting reality the better. A strong 6'5" power forward with shooting guard arm length, great handles, and no shot. If possible, package him with the 14th pick to move into the top 8.
