Honestly, I would have use part of the MLE, kept the 3rd year as an option, just in case he gets his game together to have his bird rights, however, the fact that we didn't (like we did with Richardson and McGruder) indicates we have more to do yet. Good news.

He hasn't shot a three pointer in his career and never really was a 3 point shooter. He has zero offensive skill to be honest. His only good trait is blocking shots.

Mickey had potential to be a good backup but he showed up to training camp last season way out-of-shape after a promising rookie campaign two years ago. I doubt he makes your team, and if he does he probably won't play that much.

With so many players on your team and dozens of draft picks every year, it doesn't surprise me that you don't know your players. You are right about his NBA career, but he has most of his minutes in the G-League. He can shoot 3s. Let's hope he hits them in the NBA, though! :-)

It's worthwhile to mention he hasn't earned himself any minutes while we never were thick in our frontcourt. He hasn't shot an NBA 3 yet so G-League stats are not really things to stare yourself rich on. I hope for him he pans out but I doubt it very much. I think it's more likely he'll be some kinda trade filler? Or big man security?

Yes, I can only imagine how pleased you would be if and when Mickey finds success.

Riley/Spo/etc must see some potential in the player. While it's true that the defense against a player is far more intense in the NBA than G-League, at least the 3-point line is in the same location (unlike college), right? We've had pretty good luck with G-League players, finding players that other teams pass by, but it's true that many don't work out.

Now we have two #33 (Whiteside in 2010 and Mickey in 2015)!

Waiters (2012, #4)
Winslow (2015, #10)
Olynyk (2013, #13)
Bam (2017, #14)
James Johnson (2009, #16)
Wayne Ellington (2009, #28)
Mickey (2015, #33)
Hassan (2010, #33)
Richardson (2015, #40)
Dragic (2008, #45)
Hammons (2016, #46)

matt williams (undrafted, 2017)
derrick walton, jr (undrafted, 2017)
tyler johnson (undrafted, 2014)
okaro white (undrafted, 2014)
rodney mcgruder (undrafted, 2013)
udonis haslem (undrafted, 2002)

Yeah, we had a certain period on our board that we were pretty sure he was the next goat. His last season stinked though and it looked like he just didn't care enough or something. I think in the beginning the C's really believed in his upside. And no doubt I would be very very pleased, not for you guys though but that's clear enough I guess ;-)

Good luck though.

Shouldve went after JaMychal? Not really possible. Even if he accepts, Memphis will certainly match whatever we offer.

The kid probably wont see the court that much, so I trust our staff with the end of roster decisions.

Whether JM ultimately sticks with the team or not, Chet Kammerer is better at scouting than we are.

You have had good success with G-Leaguers but dude if you're just going to discount opinions of fans who've watched his NBA games for years you're not doing your homework.

The guy stunk last year. He didn't play over Horford/Johnson/Olynyk/Jerebko because he wasn't better than any of them.

He has potential, and he had with us too, but as I said he showed up out-of-shape to camp last year and didn't grow at all as a player. He was good for a shot block here or there, but that's it. Very very poor man's Tyrus Thomas.

Who knows, maybe he turns into a player. But just mentioning G-League stats isn't a basis of saying he'll do well in the NBA considering so many G-League stars do absolutely nothing in the NBA. Look at Fab Melo (RIP) for the Celtics. He was a dominant G-League shot-blocker that was absolute trash in the NBA. Or Lester Hudson. Etc.

If he makes the team, he'll be used as a back-up PF or undersized C when the Heat are in foul trouble. That is, unless he shows he CAN hold his own against starting opponents. I want to see how "hungry" he is before passing assessment. who knows anymore.

We did not get Jordan Bell but we got Jordan Mickey instead, I think Mickey fill a similar role to Bell in GSW.

I did get a Realgm tee shirt once. Retired because, man, I was a 7th grade teacher and had rules day AND night. Health issues not going to talk about. Suffice it to say, I cannot be counted on to mod if I don't have the energy.

My guess is, Jordan Mickey will not finish the season with the Heat

Return to Miami Heat
