Who should we target IF we make a big trade? **POLL**

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Wed Jan 3, 2018 7:51 pm

Let's assume we'll decide it's time to make a big change. The players in play are probably going to be Dragic/Hassan/Winslow/Dion/JJ/TJ or any combination of these names.

Assuming we pay fair value (write your own version of the trade if you like) - Who should be our top target?

Of the listed names Wiggins is the closest thing to a true no. 1 option imo. 22 years old, ideal size, 2 way potential and already locked in on a long term deal. Hassan, Waiters, McGruder, Mickey, Okaro OUT, Wiggins, Dieng, Aldrich IN.

McCollum and Middleton are nice complementary talents, 2nd and 3rd best players on a contender-type of potential. Both turning 27 this year, I wouldn't move heaven and earth for either.

Trade somebody but make sensible trades. Superstars, young prospects, picks... No cash dumps, talentless journeymen or vets

Kind of iffy on Bari these days, don't want to get too far ahead on injured goods for the sake of being thirsty

With Kemba, if he creates chemistry with our guys - I think our celling would be around losing in ECF.

With Wiggins, IF (much bigger IF), we help him reach his potential - we're contending in a couple of years.

Wiggins 5 years younger, physically much rarer.

Bigger risk, but if we're gambling - let's go for an home run. If we miss - who cares if we're 6th or 11th.

Not realistic, we don't have the assets.

Same reason I didn't list Paul Gorge, they won't move him unless it's a huge overpay.

Would've picked Gordon IF I thought there's a chance Magic would move him for anything we have to offer. I don't believe they will.

Make them an offer they can’t refuse.

Not interested in grossly overpaid players. Not interested in young guys who haven't developed yet and are about to demand a monster contract. Not interested in old guys.

Give me Middleton.

If Evans was a couple of years younger he would be a terrific guy to go out and get. I know we have a glut of shooting guards, but he really is a point guard in a shooting guards body. His previous knock was that he couldn't shoot, but he's shooting 42% from 3 this year on significant attempts and he's a better distributor than Dragic. Probably no suitable trade considering the current state of our roster and Memphis's, but had we not already had Dragic and 3 shooting guards, now would be the time to go after Evans.

My favorite King (ex-King now) by far. He gets injured frequently though.

Riley is all about finding disgruntled stars and depressed value. I don't see much of this in this thread. Right now may not be a good time to do a trade, but a lot of teams will be headed for the tax next season (including us).

Yeah, his rookie season he was one of my favourite players in the league, he was playing point guard. Once teams started trying to turn him into a small forward and shooting guard his play deteriorated and that's just bad player management. He and his agent have some blame in that as well, why would you sign for any teams not promising you the most ball handling duties. Anyway not really a discussion for this thread but yeah, loved the way he played.

Kemba easely for me. I have him at least twice as impactful as anyone remotely likely to get traded. Amazing contract all things considered.

C.J. McCollum is overrated IMO. If he was what ppl think he is he would help Lillard to a record far byond .500 year after year. Also makes what? 27M/year over that contract. No thank you. I'd rather put the eggs in a T. Harris basket at this point.
