Very interesting, Riley mending the fences before Lebron's free agency this summer? :o

Very good read. Tl,dr Bron isn't coming back, luckily I'm not throwing fits that a 35 year old superstar doesn't want to join my team.

including suggesting that in the infancy of LeBron's tenure with the Heat, LeBron nudged Riley toward descending from the front office to replace coach Erik Spoelstra.

During a loss to Dallas on Nov. 27, 2010, LeBron's first season in Miami, a video clip of LeBron bumping Spoelstra as he strode toward the huddle during a timeout went viral. The team had lost four of five games at that point, dropping its record to 9-8, and held a long, private meeting following the game. ESPN, citing unnamed sources, reported a few days later that players were frustrated with Spoelstra and were "questioning whether he is the right coach for their team.''

i was right they all knew that the coach is just a bad pat riley replica.no wonder cabron left after that awful performance in 2014

What Riley said is a calculated move.

His entourage and his hand picked coach are not the best company for such a trip.

I don't want Lebron. I don't think there is a chance we get him anyway, but I don't want him. I didn't want Wade back either for that matter, but I can make an exception for him since he was our guy. Lebron? No thanks! Go somewhere else and lose to the Warriors. Or stay in Cleveland "for the kids". Or go join the Warriors. Might as well

I'd like Kawhi too but we don't have assets to get him and if we do it'll turn out that he's broken.

In theory, how much cap would we have to clear for Lebron to sign here?

And in addition, would JRich, Winslow/Bam and our 2019 1st be enough for Kawhi?

Basically, I'm wondering if that is Riles' big plan. Somehow trade in Kawhi, convince LBJ to come to SoBe, and try ride with:

Dragic
TJ
LBJ
Kawhi
Hassan

Or some variation of this. Assume we'd need to find ways to dump JJ and/or Dion as part of this. Maybe even Hassan too.

Even if you included all three of those guys and the first its not enough cap going out to get Kawhi. The bigger concern would be that's 4 outgoing assets with an average age of 22, so you get a whale, but with a remaining core thats capped out and aging. Going into the playoffs the hope should be the whole team (in particular the large contracts..Dragic, Hassan, JJ, TJ) play well enough to diversify the kind of trade packages we can offer this summer.

Doesn't Rich's extension kick in from 1 July though? His money would be up to $10m.

Would Hassan/Rich/2019 1st for Kawhi and Pau Gasol get it done?

We'd then likely have to try dump Goran and TJ/Dion/JJ on someone to free up cap for Lebron in theory. Roll with Point Winnie!

Winslow
McGruder
Leonard
LBJ
Olynyk / Bam

;)

yea good point on the Richardson extension. In theory I think any deal for a star would be built around Hassan/1st/and one, possibly two of our young guys who are most desirable to the trading team. Maybe you could plug Dragic in place of Hassan but I'd doubt it.

LeBron's time is up. It's Waiters time now...or next season.

Katerina Hartlova avi pendulum motion hypnotized me. I agree with you. I'd love to see Waiters step up next season on his new ankles and make some Miami Heat history.

Please be joking GOM.

Hassan really killed his value IMO. His slow, pouting, self centered ass couldn't separate himself from a rook and Kelly Olynyk. All season long.

We're not getting ANYTHING positive for him IMO. at best you'll get another overpaid guy a team wants to dump.

Hassan and Waiters would be first on my move list, but realistically we're in a very hard spot. Don't think we can trade for any real established talent. Might need to risk it for an unproven potential type talent.

Yeah I'd be a little surprised is Whiteside playing for us next season. I feel like we're gonna shop him pretty hard this off season. Could be way off though.
