We’ve seen first hand Kawhi Leonard take a deuce on us in the highest stakes. We are into him, I have no doubt. The issue will be assets, as per usual. Gonna have to sell the farm - Riley does have big balls though, he’d do it and gamble we will keep him and add vets.

I don't think we have a shot with our current assets but Sheridan was right about LBJ going back to Cavs. Still its hard to see Spurs passing up Ingram/Kuzma to take anyone on our roster

Point is we're trying. We aren't just sitting out on this potential Kawhi situation.Might not get it done but no way Riley isn't interested in Leonard... and he's basically just saying they're making an offer. Sheridan is legit too.

There are no participation trophies...damn near everybody is trying

The good thing is if we dumped everybody and he walks we still come out better than we would have been

Dragic would be a very nice fit on the Spurs.

We just had this last year with George.

LA wanted him, but their team apparently didn't want to give assets and thought they can wait to get him.

Boston was too chicken shi* to go for it and give up assets.

OKC swooped in and got their guy.

I wouldnt be shocked if Riley gives up everything for this.

MartyCONLONNN wrote:That SAS rumor is soo out of character. First of all he said he got ONE phone call.. so it was just one source meaning it was absolutely not properly vetted by journalistic standards. Secondly, if that were to somehow have happened they would have done it VERY privately. Now, he didn't say when it happened so this could have been before his vacation and maybe it was a private matter but his source found out about it. But still, that would be the ultimate form of tampering. Don't think either party risks that look when they can just wait or talk over the phone or through Lebron's people. Stephen A is a good reporter but I think he got trigger happy with this one. He's been the only one saying HEAT and is even pulling for Miami for whatever reason so maybe he got a little too excited

Technically it wouldn't be tampering if he has the Cavs permission to explore trade options. Kind of like what's going on right now with Deandre Jordan.

The problem is Kawhi wants to be in LA, he hasnt given any indication he would stay here. Now if we were able to get Lebron I think Kawhi would sign long term. The problem however is if we give up all our assets for Kawhi we have nothing left to for a S & T for LBJ or to attach to contracts to get cap space to sign LBJ. Worst case scenario is giving up everything for a 1 yr rental

Interesting. I'd do it even without landing any big fish just to get under the tax and let Bam develop.

I think you can convince Kawhi to stay here. One year in Miami and I think like in most other cases he won't want to leave. Similar to california in weather with a well run franchise that will show him love. I feel like Riley thinks he can convince him. It sure helps that the guy comes to vacation here already.

I could see a Whiteside for Kanter and Lance Thomas or Ron Baker type deal getting done tbh. Fiz would roll the dice on Hassan, and a Whiteside/Porzingis pairing has some potential to be a defensive pain in the ass, and compliment each other pretty well. We shed cap by only having 1yr of Kanter.

I'm willing to give up the farm. Though I hope we can give up Olynyk instead of Bam.

You can’t give up Whiteside for pennies on the dollar. You have to get another dollar in return.

dude is toxic and a distraction to the locker room and at times we're playing 4 on 5 while he pouts.. I'll take whatever we can get. I'd honestly take Deng for him, Deng at least can be a good locker room presence and will always hustle, even if he's terrible now.*

*this is just an example to show how bad I want Whiteside gone.

Nope. If we can dump his salary we do it. Whiteside was a gamble that Riley lost.

Salary dump for a year of Kawhit? Yeah, why not? As long as we keep some young pieces.

Some in our fanbase actually think other teams really want a 27 million dollar headcase for a real asset. It's kinda mind boggling tbh. Whiteside was a 2nd round pick floundering in the D League until we rehabbed him into finessing us into giving him a max contract.
