Can anyone break down okc cap situation. Financially is it more beneficial to trade Melo, waive him, or does it really not matter

they re at like 160mil salary and 150 lux tax, if they stretch him they can save like 100mil total. basically any scenario where he is off the team and they dont take on more than a 1/4 of his salry, they will save close to 100mil with the tax factored in.
if they traded him right into another teams space that would be ideal for okc.

melo having played for mike d before has to be a huge factor. they had a strained relationship if he were to come here, i really dont know if that would improve us or hurt us lol. we would probably guarantee him a starting role, but so would hou i imagine.
also, i would play him at the 4.

Saw it on OKC's subreddit. Someone suggested TJ and JJ for Melo then stated that waiving Singler and trading albrines for a 2nd rounder should save them 50 mil in tax relief.

Also, is wade recruiting melo? If wade were coming back, hard to imagine him not trying to get his bud here for the min.

I think for the right return they are ok paying that tax figure.
TJ would be moved that way, and likely either KO or JJ and our 2019 first. .
I'm a firm believer that we should hold steadfast with our current roster and plan for 2020 and use our 2019 and 2020 picks, but I will live with the cap dump if we can find a way to move Hassan before next years free agency starts.
TJ and KO with no pick included is a package I would be fine with.

I feel like Gabby is recruiting La La. I also think La La prefers Miami

I thought Carmelo and La La were separated. If so, recruiting her may not be a good play.
Another idea?

If OKC trade for JJ and TJ. I wouldn't be surprised if then turn around and trade one of them.

The narrative that you need a star to entice another star to come to South Beach is false. Hayward and Kyrie had us as a possible destination. We got Durant and Aldridge in a room with us. LeBron went to the Lakers why? They didn't have a star. "They have Ingram and Lonzo!". They're not stars and we could surround AD with better teammates. We own our 2019&2020 draft picks and a few of our young players will be better by 2020.
