Pre-season is almost over, from what I've seen, these are my guys:

C- Whiteside
PF- Bam
SF- McGruder
SG - JRich
PG - Dragic

Who would you start?

I would start Winslow at SF, but otherwise I agree.

I think you have to start with JJ at PF. As much as I think he’s a better player off the bench, I don’t think Bam is ready yet to assume a starting role. Also, even when Bam is ready for that role, he may be better suited at C.

C: Whiteside
Pf: JJ
SF: Jrich
Sg: McGruder for now until Waiters returns
Pg: Goran

Team is going to Have a crazy bench, especially when waiters returns. Winslow at Point Forward, KO and Bam in the power rotation, McGruder and TJ bringing hustle, and of course Wade. Not to mention DJJ.

We have a huge amount of depth and repetition at most positions.

It's easy to see now that signing Waiters, JJ, and TJ were BIG mistakes but at least TJ will be used as an expirer, Waiters is still young and could be a 6th man for a while and JJ gives us depth and can be a trade piece for a contender going forward.

Bam, JRich, Olynick and maybe Robinson are the future. Not convinced about Winslow but he's a nice defensive player that can be useful if efficient.

I think we are okay. We need to stay on track developing our young guys.

I'm all for trying out Bam and Whiteside again a few weeks into the season but considering how god awful they were last year when on the court together I'd hold off on that as a starting option until the team has found its groove.
We know that Whiteside/Olynyk is decent and that Bam/Olynyk is excellent. I'd keep that intact until the big and small wing rotation is in order.

Totally agree, give em some time to play together and gel. Maybe if White and Bam are on opposite sides of the court it would work. Let's see how our 5 best guys play together and if they can find a groove. If Spo overthinks and resorts to tinkering with lineups it could make it more difficult for them.

Everyone keeps talking about what a stud Bam is. Apparently he's the kind of stud that needs to be 4 deep in the power rotation. :nonono:

Classic overthinking. And JJ has always been better off the bench. The signs are clear: Bam should start asap. Let the youth take the lead.

Cc: Whiteside / Bam
Pf: Olynyk / JJ
Sf: Winslow / McGruder / DJJ
Sg: J-Rich / Wade / Ellington
Pg: Dragic / TJ

TJ, JJ, McGruder, Wade, and Bam off the bench are fantastic. Olynyk spacing the floor for Whiteside, Winslow, J-Rich, and Dragic on the perimeter...sounds good to me!

Interesting lineup. Does it have enough shooting? Dragic would have to slow the pace a bit but defensively it has potential maybe. Whiteside is slow so maybe a slower pace is going to help him.

I think you want to start off kinda slow. Hit them in the mouth a bit. Then, when you've worn them down physically, you bring in the quickness and energy from the bench. Bam, TJ, JJ, McGruder, and Wade would bring a ton of energy.

I like what you are getting at here. Can our first team keep us in the game?

I think so. Lot depends on Dragic, Richardson, Olynyk, and Whiteside.

Of course, if we trade Richardson and Winslow for Butler and use Waiters next to him, all bets are off with what our starters can do...

true. all we can do is speculate with what we have. I want Ball and Kuzma to go with Butler...

No but it's great alternative to starting 6'6 Winslow at the 4. Winslow should start at 3 depending on the matchup.
