I am sorry to say but it has been 9 years and the Heat have been around the same for a while and are slowly getting worse. I think that the Heat need a fresh start with a new coach. What do you guys think?

what do you expect spo to do when he's given hot trash for players and is handicapped with them because of poor decision making by the front office?

I think it's very possible that Spo is no better than average as a head coach. Even when the team was loaded with talent, we didn't outperform expectations. But trying to judge Spo's coaching based on his performance with this collection of misfits is close to impossible. Yeah we could fire him, but who could we hire that could do anything with this team as is?
Face it, Pat Riley committed one of the worse sins a personnel guy can commit. He made scrappy over-performing journeymen comfortable with fat long term contracts. Some guys only bring value when they are scrapping for their next meal. The minute you give them some security, the fire fades and all you're left with is mediocre or worse.

Offensively challenged coaches would be exposed in todays league where offensive execution per possession is more important than ever. Spoestra would thrive in the early to mid-2000s though.

Eh I disagree to an extent.
This is on Riley as much as Spo as well, due to these overpaid contracts that made us have a horrible product on the floor.
Spo can only do so much, obviously questionable minute restrictions and line ups that are suspect.
However, I am open to signing Blatt if hes available and willing. That would be the only coach I would be open for imo.

This point would carry more weight if we didn't see Spo basically revive the small-ball, uptempo offense. The Heatles had high-octane offense in them, that was usually reserved for spurts, as none of those legs were young. I don't think we have the personnel to do it now. We lack the shooting to just go fun-and-gun offense, and trying to push the pace for the sake of it appears to be a poor trade, as we can't outscore other teams enough to make it work. We're better off slowing the pace a bit to reduce the number of possessions the other team has, so that we can outsmart the opponent, rather than trying to overwhelm them with using a bunch of pea-shooters.
That's what I imagine the philosophy is, anyway, and I can't fault it. That said, it isn't particularly fun to watch, and can be so damn frustrating when it goes bad. If only we'd pulled a Devin Booker instead of a Justice Winslow. I think we'd see a different approach on offense, as we'd have at least one reliable offensive weapon then.
