Hassan Round 2

Here we go again but this time around, who is truly at fault?

Hassan this season has been if not our best player one of the 2-3 Best players on the team giving you close to 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Last night, he started 6 of 6, with force along with 7 rebounds.... and played under 10 minutes after that point.

Last season, most of the base, took Spo's side in this but is that the case this year? Does Hassan have a point that Spo doesnt read the game.

Hassan was absolutely brutal in that third quarter and was huffing and puffing while Orlando bigs were taking him to school. He did start the game off with a spark but faded badly in that third quarter. He's also become an immense liability at the free throw stripe. It's time for the organization to move on and give the KO and BAM front court as many minutes as they can handle mixed in with JJ off the bench. Would also like to see what Yante Maten can do at PF. Would love to just trade Hassan but as of now I only see one team in the NBA that might want him. A possible homecoming with the Hornets for Batum is the only thing i see on tap from going over the entire NBA's depth charts and contract situations.

Right now i'm all about forcing Hassan's hand. Let him pout and be a malcontent. Keep him on the bench. Fine him for conduct detrimental to the team if he continues to act up. Let's test his ego to see if he's willing to opt out of his deal next year. If not he needs to look at how JV is being handled in Toronto and accept a similar role. 15-18 minutes and go all out on defense and catch a few lob dunks. Much like he did when he first came onto the scene.

Spo is tanking and developing Bam. He is keeping Hassan's efficiency stats up. Hassan will def be traded.

The problem with Hassan is that he stinks. Its a coaching miracle that Spo made him look decent for a season to begin with.

Counting stats hasn't been relevant since 2000. Hassan is empty calories. A player that hussled a tiny bit for a contract. A knight Kato kind of villain with a basketball heart of stone.

Yea, the real problem was our front office not understanding who this guy is before giving him all that money. He's too slow, too low IQ, too self absorbed, too outdated to the current style of the game.

He'll never be a winner, and he doesn't fit here in any regard.

Trade for anything, addition by subtraction. Minutes go to Kelly, Bam and Maten.

Come on now, we had very little options but to try to re-sign Whiteside and hope it fell in our favor. You wanted him back knowing everything that we already knew, as well. He's probably the worst signing post-Bosh but I would probably have done it again if I had the chance

Only failure was not trading while the iron was still hot

I am not sure what else you would do if you are Spo. Bam and KO are your best options up front. The ball moves well in and out of the paint plus the screen setting which is huge for our perimeter players to create is much more solid.

I vividly remember a play in the 3rd quarter when J-Rich called for a screen twice, Hassan finally moved towards the defender and set a lazy screen that I could've done better from my couch. J-Rich has to go put his head down and drive to the basket with both his defender and the help defender on him while Hassan was lazily making his way back to the basket not even forceful enough for a dunk nor in clear position for an offensive board. J-Rich forced the well defended layup. I remember saying to myself, Hassan won't see the floor again tonight, not when KO and Bam, while not perfect, AT LEAST were leaving it all on the floor.

And this is the story of Hassan Whiteside over the last two seasons. Not sure what else you do. HE IS one of our most talented players, HE IS one of our more dominant-capable players but that effort and disposition? Ugh... perplexing. I mean, this is not Michael Beasley who will frustrate you with the lack of IQ but at least HE TRIED! Hassan is such a mystery and I am not sure he is worth the drama that comes with it.

Whiteside is slow and has little power, playing with finesse, trying to not get injured.
Spo is maximizing Hassan's efficiency stats and developing Bam.

Just trade him.

I call that BS, we all knew who Hassan was physically and emotionally before we resigned him. How many times did we suspend him, before resigning. All of you wanted him back. People gave me flack saying they better not give him more 15 mill per. And posters called me delusional. The Heat did explore other options, Horford and Howard.
