His collected "set shot" and release resembles Klay from the waist up but that's where the similarities end. He's infinitely more fluid than Klay as a ball-handler creator and shot-maker, while at the same time he hasn't shown anything to suggest he's close to Klay's level as a defender

I said White Curry on draft night and that’s what he’s gonna be.

Team is looking pretty decent. We look more athletic and playing with a good tempo. Tyler Herro, never cared for the signing, don’t watch college ball. But so far, he is winning me over. I’m not gonna get crazy like you all, calling him Curry or Klay literally the 2 best shooters of all time lol but I will say he has been very impressive for a 19yr old. His defense isn’t all that bad either.
I like that for now at least we have a very deep team. I like the Leanord pick up. And I like the pairing of Bam and Leanord as well.
The bad? Winslow still hasn’t figured it out. And we are going on what year 5 now? Maybe by year 10 he will get it.
Back to Herro. IMO he should be starting right off the bat. This kid has more star potential than WinSlow, Jrich, Bam etc and I’m going as far to say he is likely already our second best player behind Jimmy. No reason for him to be on the bench what so ever.
Where should he start? Easy, PG. This kid has better ball handling, playmaking, shot making and creating than basically anyone on the team. He isn’t strong enough to guard SGs. Justice may WANT to be the teams point guard but he hasn’t earned it. And if we want Herro to be a star, PG is where it’s at. Give him freedom and green light, work on his body, strength and conditioning, defense and groom him to be our Star PG.
Lineup should be
Herro
Jimmy
Justice
Leanord
Bam
Dion needs to accept and flourish in a bench/6th man role. And this leaves us with a nice deep bench.
If we stay healthy, the East is wide open. I don’t see why we can’t be minimum 4th seed. The only way we are seeded any worse is due to injuries or Jimmy ain’t playing up to his contract. And then we need to look at Spo. The talent is there.
But at the end, we are still missing that REAL Star player, a top 5/6 player to take us over the top. And until we get that player, this team won’t reach its potential. Either way, excited this season. Should be a good one. Tyler gives us all something to hope for. And Bam could very well take that next step.

I get it. We all hate hype, myself included
But I'm willing to take a risk here. This kid is just on another level when it comes to playing basketball and you can see it in his movements on the floor. Usually when you have prospects like this with the "feel for the game" they come attached with a skill deficit (hello Justise). This is usually the case, but it's not the case with Herro. His skills have been on full display and they are streamlined and fluid and precise; he's sneaky deliberate in everything he does and yet his movement is still so fluent and natural and -- above all and perhaps most impressive for a rookie -- completely under control. He doesn't put himself into bad spots, he's basically just constantly taking the shortest distance between 2 points, which is to say he's efficient
I love seeing all his 3s splash down but tbh the results of his FGAs right now are less impressive to me than the means by which he's getting his FGAs

Re: Offseason thread vol. 4: Media Day, Camp, Preseason
Tyler Herro is very Curry like, and I agree with sentiment that he should be the PG of the future. His ability to create off close outs, and distribute is really nice to see. I expected that to take him years to get down, looks like he’s already very advanced in that regard. His range will make everybody on this team better on offense.
He has a certain IT factor to him, there is an energy when he touches the basketball. He looks like a very special player, and perhaps the whale we’ve been looking for, was the draft picks we earned along the way. I may be crazy but there are very few players I’d be willing to move Herro for. He’s going to be the face of the franchise, and a cornerstone piece for the next 10-15 years here in Miami.

Klay Thompson is a bad defender. He only has a reputation as a good defender because he weighs over 200 pounds, 6-6 and played on a great defensive team.

Lol. A lot of your takes tend to be strange, but this one is one is pretty bad. Klay Thompson is an very good defender, what are you talking about, bro?

It was reported that Spo has wanted to coach Westbrook for years and has actually drawing up plays he'd use for Westbrook. I don't like Westbrook but if Spo thinks he knows how to use him I'm up for giving him that chance to coach him if it doesn't cost much in assets(this is key).

Two games in and people think Herro is a PG no, just no. His best position is shooting guard, he doesn't have to be running the offense to get his looks.

Oddsharks line is 43.5 for Miami wins. I promise you that is easy money. This team is going to be a top 10 team.

Herro is a player you want on the court because of how he plays and shoots. Then you have someone like Winslow who know what he is?
