Why would OKC, a rebuilding team, trade Steve Adams?

See that’s a needle mover

Then you resign him in 2021 FA for a team friendly deal the guy definitely wants to win

They won’t based on their position right now but I’d do that trade for sure depending what we have to give up

They could, Adams is overpaid(money they probably would like to get off of) and they could just plug Noel into the starting role and probably resign him after the season.

Noel would be a nice pickup for Miami's bench, he's only making 2 million(doubt you can play 2 non 3pt shooter bigs together).
Per36s... 15.5 pts, 10.1 pts, 1.9 stls, 3.0 blks and oh yeah, .718 TS% (only shoots 9.1 FGA), 80% FT% this year, career 65%.
Also... ORTG 132, DRTG 101, +31 overall.

Was just think that Myles Turner would be great on this team. He has good size, plays good D, and he can stretch the floor. His rebounding numbers are low though

What do you think of Steven Adams + Dennis Schroder for Goran Dragic, Dion Waiters, and Meyers Leonard?

I'm not sure what I think to be fair:
C - Steven Adams / Kelly Olynyk
PF - Bam Adebayo / James Johnson
SF - Duncan Robinson / Justise Winslow
SG - Jimmy Butler / Tyler Herro
PG - Kendrick Nunn / Dennis Schroder

For OKC, they take a downgrade at center and a marginal move at PG (as good as Goran has been, so has Schroder, but he is only 26 - still with CP3 and SGA his time is probably limited after current contract) to basically wipe 30 mill off the books this year in Dragic and Leonard, only keeping Dion (this is the cost).

Miami gets the big to add toughness and rebounding in Adams and gets younger at PG with Schroder - I personally think if no trade is made, Miami makes Dragic a huge 1 year offer to stay, maybe same for Leonard, so I feel these contracts have the same impact for us, but are tradeable.

Not sure if we can play Adams and Bam together, but I think it would work

Bam and Adams couldn't be on the court together much, only when you absolutely needed stops, the spacing would hurt the offense.

The type of player that is needed next to Bam is a big with the strength to guard low post bigs and has 3pt range(although doesn't have to be good, just respectable), Leonard is like the low end version of that, if he could get better defensively he'd be fine. Miami also needs a rim protector coming off the bench to help the bench's defense.

Miami also needs a solid 3&D SG/SF opposite of Butler(who is bad at 3s). Robinson is fine but until he gets better defensively, Miami needs another person they can depend on to hit 3s and be a solid defender at the end of games. If Butler or Winslow were decent options from 3pt range it wouldn't be an issue for them to play together, but neither are solid 3pt shooters(Winslow only takes/makes 3s when wide open which wide open shots disappear near the end of games).

Who says no?

Nunn / Winslow / Augustin
Butler / Herro / Vincent
Robinson / Gordon / Okpala
Adebayo / JJ / Silva
Leonard / Bamba

Fultz / Dragic / MCW
Fournier / Ross
Isaac / Jones Jr / Iwundu
Birch / Aminu
Vucevic / Olynyk

How close is it?

Magic pass. Bamba is a valued player, together with Fultz & Isaac. You're going to have to send at least one FRP. Also, Gordon & Bamba start ahead of Robinson & Leonard.

One guy I think would be a great fit is Baynes from the Suns. Big tough guy who can bang and defend down low and has nice range on the 3 ball. He would fit perfectly with this team and not sure what suns plans are for him with Ayton there.

Baynes is a good choice.

i dont think the players are at fault with their poor rebounding i think that they do so because of the system/method that spo makes them use. the heat got 2 seven footers with hammer and ollynyk and a few almost 7 footers like bam, butler, jones jr ...let the graph speak for itself

the team has no midgets, its the way they are being used that is causing so piss poor rebounding

Butler is 6'7 with short wing span, Derrick Jones Jr is 6'6.

That is not almost 7 foot...

Really hope they're targeting LMA. He'd be a perfect PF/C compliment to Bam offensively, is an underrated rim protector, and he's the kind of vet we need who can take some pressure off Yimmy and get buckets on his own in the halfcourt during crunch time (a very glaring hole right now imo)

Perhaps something like:

Image

(Kinda got a little out of control trying to make the salaries work but I'm sure Andy could find something with fewer throw-ins while keeping the same principal assets involved)

Trade would also include a Magic FRP to Spurs either 2020 or 2021, whatever to get it done. Pop's ego is big enough that he probably thinks he could turn Winslow into a superstar, plus Spurs get immediate cap relief this coming offseason and a potential lottery pick from Magic. Heat might have to throw in their 2023 FRP to Spurs or Magic but whatever

C - Bam/Poeltl
PF - Aldridge/Aminu/DJJ
SF - Butler/DJJ/Ross
SG - Duncan/Herro/Ross
PG - Nunn/Dragic/Mills

I think we instantly become a significantly better playoff team this season and next while also keeping Dragic, though if my math is correct we net gain about $9 mil extra on the books for 2021 offseason.

But our 7 footers are poor rebounders and Bam is the only player who consistenly boxes out. I think rebounding is down to personal and effort. Getting Winslow back will help but also guys need to box out and fight harder for the rebound.
