There was a time where a lot of users here on RealGM questioned Doc Rivers coaching ability. Was he just second fiddle to the defensive genius Tom Thibodeau? Was he merely a coach that only knew how to manage egos? This is going to be a big year for him. With the arrival of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, surely the expectations from higher management is championship. Anything less is failure. Quite honestly, I have them as the favorites this year. Though with the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have something much higher than themselves to play for and that would be the best feel good story come June.
Erik Spoelstra does find himself as a topic on the General Board quite often. But negatively. In fact, since LeBron's departure, this is the most I've seen the word "Spo" and "Elite" in the same sentence. While he does tend to piss us off with his questionable defensive plays, he without a doubt has shown he can find that exta gear in guys to push them just a bit more. Turd quarter meltdowns notwithstanding. Compared to some other teams in the league, I'd say we should be grateful to have him as a coach. I'd have to be the likes of Pat Riley, Rick Carlisle, or Gregg Popovich to even have me consider swapping coaches.

I'll take the blame for that one also for enabling such posts in my original GT. Apologies.
