I was thinking about this tweet... wouldn't all 29 teams within the US technically constitute paying less taxes? In that case it wouldn't necessarily be referring to a Florida or Texas team

5ReasonsSports cover Miami Heat Basketball and ClutchNBA now have an association with 5Reasons and would know who they are talking about.

Would love Bam to have the opportunity to work with Kevin Garnett or Chris Bosh this offseason.

The defense is there. The playmaking is there. What's missing is the offensive refinement. KG and CB are two of the best midpost guys in the business, would love to see them help him here.

There is no reason to trade away young core talent (Herro, Robinson, KZ) from a top 4 team, potentially Finals team to rush into bringing in an all star this summer, when another star even generational talent (Giannis/Kawai) might be waiting right around the corner to join what's being built. Trading away all our shooting (including a potential all star talent), picks and 2021 cap space for a Beal when we can have it all in 2021. Patience

Mostly agree but at some point Pat is going to do what Pat does and go whale hunting with the young guys. But I’m torn and would really want to see these kids stick around and be developed in this system. Herro and Bam look like they’ll be regular all-stars. Robinson and DJJ feel like they are working hard at being two way players, but are fun to cheer for as specialists. And the pipeline has a bunch of guys I’m excited about (silva, alexander, kz, and even Vincent). Even Nunn, who i think probably makes the most sense as trade bait, has a ton of potential.

Dirk Nowitzki would be good too.

Yes and no. This has been a unique season that if it was not played in a bubble the results would be different. Pat saw what happened in OKC, he wants championships now. Bam needs to get paid very soon and like Butler said, the way a team values you is how they pay you. He can sign a contract early which puts a hamper on many possible moves, basically we need to tell him he needs to wait so we can try to sign another possible player. This has been a strange season for sure.

The team has already had those conversations with Bam and he is going to wait till 2021 to sign the extension I believe.

I think we've said it before, Bam and Giannis share the same agent. Bam was going to work out with Giannis last offseason before Team USA called from memory.

Bam definitely knows the drill. He'll get his max, no question. There would be a "wink wink" agreement that he'll get it even if he got injured during 2020-21. It's just timing. In this instance, we need him to hold off until next offseason to sign on the dotted line.

I have no doubt that Bam is fully on board with the reasons why - he's a winner, and this is all about winning.

I'm almost certain that Riley isn't going to rush into making a deal where he has to trade either Herro and/or Bam away for another all star before 2021. I think he knows that he can improve this roster next season in the short term while maintaining cap flexibility for the 2021 offseason.

Which would you guys prefer?

Butler
Beal
Giannis
Robinson
Okpala
Silva
No cap space in 2021

Or

Butler
Giannis
Bam
Herro
Robinson
Nunn
Okpala
Silva
2020 pick
13mil cap space in 2021

I'm very high on him, really want to see him get real minutes ASAP.

I think he even grew a little, guys looks legit 6'9 with a good handle, decent shot and hard worker. That's everything you want in a supersized wing.

I can tell they're working on bulking him up and strengthening his core and lower body, if he can get a bit more explosive and quicker filling his frame i'm telling you we've got a defensive beast about to get unleashed.

I think his strength is his ball handling. Imagine two ball handling bigs in Okpala and Bam surrounded by shooters in Nunn, Herro and Robinson. Whew mismatch problems for the league.

The combine measured him at 6'9.5 in shoes with 7'1.75 wingspan. Bam was measure 6'9.75 with 7'2.75 wingspan. I believe the kid had the body type that will fill in and be more athletic doing so. If he develops into a quality player that utilizes his talent right that would be a sick front court of Bam and KZ

Read on Twitter

This is why teams do not and will not trade with the Heat in the same conference. They do not want the embarrassment. 76ers not trading with the Heat no time soon damn sure if it is a marquee player involved.

Have a feeling Kevin Love's name will reemerge at some point. His contract though is a major deterrent to the summer of 21' whale hunting agenda. If Miami thinks he's the right type of piece, I could see them forgoing the whale hunting and settling on him - for better or worse for us fans.

I don't mind Love, I think he fits the system. He is 100x better than Olynyk. And I think Cavs may be willing to trade him for not much in return. Probably just can swap him for Olynk and keep all the young pieces. His IQ, rebounding, passing, shooting and ability to play in the system would be huge. Having a 3rd yr Robinson, 2nd yr Nunn, Herro and KZ along with Vets in Dragic, Butler, Bam and Love would be nice chemistry.

No move on Love until 2021 offseason. If you whiff on the big names, he’s one you can circle back to. No need to pull the trigger now and flub any chance of getting a big fish.

Love can't defend in today's NBA.

To me - the ideal players we need to add in order to really upgrade need to be 2 way players. Those are crucial in the playoffs.

If you can only play D or O, you better not take up as much cap as love makes $$$.

Our potential upgrade should either come cheap, be truly elite on one side of the ball (Love is a good offensive player but he's far from elite) or be truly 2 way player.

Heat already showed interest in a player like Love in Gallinari. I would consider Love to be significantly better than Gallinari as well.

Jimmy-"Haha, nah man, I'm all about the culture. Heard Miami drenched in it. You game?"
Kawhi-"Cool, cool. I'ma give PG a call den."
Jimmy-"Playoff P. You know dat dude ain't bout dat life."
Kawhi-"True, true. How 'bout I hit you up in 2021 if we on that BS?"
Jimmy-"All good my dude. You can be my Pippen, haha."

I'm new here, so here's my story: Miami born and raised, got into the Heat while at a sleep-away camp in the summer of 2006. The Finals became everything to everyone. Been watching the Heat since then.

I know I don't need to tell anyone here about how monumental this season was for the Heat. It's the all-time Cinderella story in the making, in the crazies year of any of our lives.

So.... My thoughts on the future of the team?

Bam is 23. Herro is 20. Duncan is 26. They are our superstars of the future. Hell, Bam is already there. All focus should be on maximizing their potential, alongside Jimmy Butler. Surround that core with top-tier complementary pieces, which is the current construct of our roster.

I'm not quite sure we NEED to go and spend top dollar on another max FA superstar. I think we have our superstars on the team already, and I don't want to impede their development by shuffling the ball to someone else. And I don't want to see them get paid what they deserve to get paid somewhere else.

This team is proving right now that they can contend for championships. Yes, the circumstances of this season are unique (the asterisk crowd is crazy though), and the Heat are philosophically built for the bubble. KD/Kyrie in the East and Steph/Klay in the West will come back, so the competition will be much tougher, but

At the very least, let's run it back next year and see if this success can be replicated. If it can, we have our team of superstars. Homegrown, the old fashioned way.

Good post newcomer. It's a great time to be a Heat fan. Stick around and keep up the quality convo. Go Heat!

Whatever happens, we need to bring back Dragic. That should be a priority in the offseason. Give him a huge 1 year deal with the promise of a longer contract in 2021.

As crazy as it sounds, guys like Goran Dragic reach their prime in their mid 30s. He’s going to be playing at a high level for the next 3 years at least, IMO.

Return to Miami Heat
