We will pay Bam no matter what next season. We have every contingency plan in place should Bam suffer significant injury next season while waiting for his contract extension.
- We signed Precious who could have a Bam like development and fill the void should Bam be forced to sit.
- We have balloon paid Dragic likely so he can return at the BAE next season while retaining cap flexibility.
- We have more than enough 1 and 1 Team option contracts to add extra talent as well as a max guy next season should we need to fill the void of Bam not being there.
- We have more than enough promising youth in Herro, Robinson, Nunn, Precious and KZ to be secure should we be stuck paying Bam when we can't use him.
- We will be a competitive team with Jimmy the young guys and another max player even without Bam.
For all these reasons I think the organisation are willing to promise to re-sign Bam under any circumstances.
I can't think of any elite player at the age of 23 suffering an injury severe enough to end their career. Can anyone else?
I think one of the reasons we are bringing back UD and paying him to yell at the players is to show how the players will be taken care of, inspite of dwindling minutes and ability to play, as long as they want to be here. I don't think Bam will be worried about getting stiffed, but a trade could change all that. So hopefully he remains untouchable until atleast he signs his max.
