***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2020-2021 Regular Season***

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Mon Nov 23, 2020 3:58 pm

It's that time of the year again, time to get our hopes up before they are crushed by Iggie's jinxing.

looking at las't years thread, As a collective, we undersold the team last season...they won a lot more games then we predicted (compared to the average prediction) - both in the regular season and in the playoffs.

Also nobody saw those trades coming, or saw Iggie being so powerful to actually move NBA basketball into a Bubble.

So What season do you expect us to have?
Can we repeat last season's success?
Can bam make another jump?
Can KZ Or Precious have a big impact?

Last years Prediction thread :
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1878570

How wisdom of the crowd effect works :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd

So without further ado, let's get after it - All answers should address the Regular Season :

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2020-2021 season? (notice it's a 72 games season)

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?

5) Who will be our best overall young player (age limit set to 25)?

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

That's basically a 60 win rate in a regular 82 game season.

I guess you can't do worse then your last year's prediction when you were disqualified.

I figured two of the Bucks, Celtics, Nets, Raptors will have better records than us OP

With that said, I don't see three 60ish win teams in the East due to the fact that there will be more better teams in the NBA this season (Atl Hacks, Nets, Wizards, GS, Pelicans, Suns, Blazers, Wolves, Grizzlies should get better to varying degrees via trades, health, youth development, draft and so forth... even Bulls, Knicks, who knows) than last years tank fest.

Can I change my prediction to 49 games?

Biggest disappointment: Chalm Down

I have a feeling that Avery Bradley will be a disappoint.
I also think that Precious will have very little impact due to the lack of opportunities.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

KZ and Herro

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2020-2021 season? (notice it's a 72 games season)
I'll be generous. 43 wins.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?
Yes, 4th seed

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?
Yimmy - 21
Bam - 17
Goran - 15
Duncan - 14

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?
Bradley, if he stays healthy and gets minutes. Otherwise, Precious

5) Who will be our best overall young player (age limit set to 25)?
Bam

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?
Herro

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?
demon opie

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?
Nunn trade, I don't see how he fits going forward and early last season may have been a fluke

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)
Bam will shoot and make 3s

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?
hold onto the storm

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.
we will go winless against garrison mathews-led teams

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.
covid/covid exposure dnp's, unfortunately

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.
pelifan will join me as a beno truther

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?
Success - top 7 seed. Doesn't sound that impressive, but I think the top 7 teams in east are somewhat close in quality and home court will probably not exist in playoffs again this year anyways
Failure - miss the playoffs

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?
For regular season, big man depth. Outside of Bam, we are questionable there, and we could lose games because of low energy rebounding in atl gt type games. It will be a good sign if Precious can help us

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?
2nd round exit

I'm going full homer this season. IDC. IDC.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2020-2021 season? (notice it's a 72 games season)
48-24 (66.7%) This is good for number 5 in the 2019-20 NBA.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?
Oh please. We are 2nd place in the East, right behind the Bucks.

3) Who will be our top 4 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?
Butler (19)
Bam (17)
Herro (16)
Dragić (15)

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?
Avery Bradley (good 4th quarter player)

Bam Adebayo.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?
Tyler Herro.

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?
Miami Heat will sign Rudy Gay after he is waived by the Spurs.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)
Two:
(1) Not sure if this is a surprise but KZ Okpala will be a contributor and play when we need a good defender on the court.
(2) Bam Adebayo will begin shooting 3 points of at least 37.5%, becoming a perimeter threat.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?
Spo isn't playing our young players enough.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.
Duncan Robinson will set the record for number of 3's in a game: 12 (the record is 10 but Duncan will beat it by 2)

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.
Goran Dragić will dunk the basketball (only once though).

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.
We will learn that everyone on the board besides you is the same person with multiple accounts.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?
Success win finals.
Failure anything else.
Sorry that's how it works now.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?
Injuries.

16) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?
Miami Heat will win the Finals.
