The Heat need additional big body if they play Philly. Can't be throwing Precious on Embiid. If Cousins continue to improve he would be a good fill in as a scoring big if Bam gets in foul trouble

We cannot expect Cousins to fulfill that role though. He can help us but we cannot rely on him to step up against Embiid. Opponents are shooting 63% against Cousins. He's not going to stop too many players.

Precious may have a chance next season or even if the playoffs if he can learn and grow. He's got a chance to become quite good.

Those free throws last night though...

Just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's good for you.

If we get Boogie it's at the expanse of other options, better options

Hell I don't even want Boggie to play ahead of Precious, let alone better trade options

Rex, even a Cousins at 50% is better than KO.

Cousins compliments Bam very well:

•They are both Kentucky Wildcats
•Cousins is 6’11
•Cousins can stretch the floor and shoot
•He is a great passer, especially in the post
•He can rebound
•He can put the ball on the deck and draw fouls

The ability to get a player like that without having to move our other assets is great, because we can save those pieces to make a subsequent move as well.

Can you help me out with the next lottery numbers? because you must have invented a time machine.

In 2021 - present day - Boogie Cousins is indeed 6'11,
Shooting 30% from 3 last 2 seasons,
Has a bad asists/turnover ratio,
Still good rebounder indeed,
Probably the least efficient scoring Center in the entire NBA,
And Can hardly move on defense.
Not to mention a huge injury risk.

I won't cry about it if we just cut Silva and add Boggie for the minimum, but anything above that is a bad move that will prevent us from making better moves.

Hell Even giving Boogie minutes over Precious and Kelly is probably a bad move 80% of the time.

He's not an upgrade, he's at best a lateral move and at worse an obstacle from improving for real.

We don't have to cut Silva to sign Cousins. We have an empty roster space.

Nunn making me eat crow lately, I didn't think he could bounce back this well.

Props to him, He must be tough minded.

I still don't like his fit, but I think he's actually improving on defense which is both surprising and important for this team.

Just praying he doesn't regress again. Without Herro and Dragon, he's crucial for us

When you say you do not like his fit, you mean as a starter or he just doesn't serve a role on this roster?

My vision of Nunn's role is to pair him with Herro off the bench to be THE scorers with the second unit. He has shown to have great chemistry with the starting unit if the starting point is injured. Herro being that Ginobli role and Nunn being that Eddie House role. I expect Nunn to always be streaky, but I do expect him to get smarter. I do not see a big need to get rid of him as some on here are craving like they craved Winslow to shoot more bricks.

I have NO problem paying Robinson and Nunn. Their roles fit the roster and the system. I have no problem giving Robinson somewhere between 10 to 20 mill. If Nunn continues to play effective, he will likely get Meyers Leonard type of deal. Dragic, Leonard and Iggy contracts are gonna drop off. Nunn and Robinson have a low cap hold, something like 7 mill combined.

There is no big time player I see on the horizon to be traded. I would focus keeping the foundation of the team intact and continue to add complementary pieces. The one player I would target hard for is Kyle Lowry this summer.

PG: Lowry - Nunn - Bradley
SG: Butler - Herro
SG: Robinson - ___?___
PF: ___?___ - Okpala
Ce: Adebayo - Precious

If they do not redo Dragic and Leonard contracts, trade one or both of them to fill in those gaps. Then fill in the roster with veteran mins and make a another run until another star becomes available. Plus the Heat got to get Okpala ready to contribute.

I'd be down for taking a flier on DMC as long as:

a) We can get him for free (no surrendering assets)

b) Acquiring him doesn't stop us from pursuing a guy like Bjelica

The only role I'm looking for with DMC is as backup center to play alongside Achiuwa

It's a fluid situation - But if Nunn isn't hitting 3's (And I'm not really trusting his 3's despite the good numbers, I don't like the form, release time and streakiness) He's a bad fit next to Jimmy and Bam - they really need a pure high volume 3 point shooting PG.

Because of Herro and Duncan, we also need a defending PG - And Nunn kinda sucked on defense for most of his tenure here. I do see some improvement lately, but I can't tell if it's real or if it's just wishful thinking of my part.

IF - HUGE IF - Nunn can become a good more consistent 3 point shooter - and become even an average defender at PG - he can be a decent fit on this team.

Personally I don't like PGs that can't pass - but I guess it's not a deal breaker because we have Jimmy and Bam and Herro who are above average passers for their positions.

Our guard rotation is just VERY unbalanced - Nunn, Herro, Duncan, Dragic (Bradley is a non factor this year) are all below average defenders, and all kinda streaky for different reasons.

We need AT LEAST one of those guys to be replaced or to improve into a Solid defender, and a consistent scorer.

Since Herro is the youngest, has the highest upside, is the most versatile and takes up very little cap space - he's the lock IMO. H'es the guy I slot in for 36 minutes a game for the next few years (Unless we trade him for a star).

Since neither Duncan or Nunn are consistent enough, neither gets to the line, and neither are a proven defenders - I just can't justify paying them both big money going forward. We need a more balanced team.

There are a bunch of guys I rather go after before Cousins.

But I do believe If we get Cousins it would be at the expanse of other trade/buyout options.

I think you misunderstood my post. Yes, we could cut Chris Silva. After all, he's been injured more often than not since the bubble, but the NBA rules allow for us to have 17 players (15 regular contracts plus 2 two-ways deals). Two-way deals are Strus & Vincent. 15 regular deals are:

Dragić, Herro, Robinson, Bradley, Iggy
Butler, Okpala, Achiuwa, Nunn, & Harkless
UD, Bam, KO, Meyers Leonard, Chris Silva

With Leonard out though, Miami has a disabled player exception of almost $5m. We can offer that to Cousins.

>But I do believe If we get Cousins it would be at the expanse of other trade/buyout options.

I agree. I think Cousins offers more than someone like Rudy Gay though, and I don't see Aldridge bought out. Drummond or Griffin could be available however after the all star break. It would be funny to have Griffin on the team and hear Eric Reid do the commentary.

WTF.

He's injured. He'll return after the all-star break. Goran should be playing after we get back from the road trip.

I don't consider him as a point guard. He's a scoring guard. You put him with Herro with the second unit there is no need for a point just let Herro and Nunn score. Surround them with guys who can crash the boards defend and run. Neither one fits perfectly in the starting lineup. Like I said early in the season I would like to build this team similar to the Spurs 2014, Raptors 2019 and 2016 Warriors
