Hopefully after finally having a practice with his team Oladipo looks a little more comfortable out there. There were many, many plays where Oladipo had no idea what his teammates were doing, in fact Butler was thrown off some too with the new guys.
I get the optimism, I really do. But who you guys are waiting for hasn’t showed up in 3 years, not just these past two games. I feel Kelly fit our system better, but I don’t necessarily mind the gamble. I will however be disappointed if Oladip lands a big contract from us this offseason on potential. He needs to show a lot more, so far he looks like the same guy the Rocket fans were complaining about. We shall see
Kelly wasn't going to continue playing once Ariza got caught up to speed, it would have been just like last year.
If Miami were to resign Oladipo it's because they now know where he is medically and mentally and can monitor if he's getting better, that coupled with how he fits in.
Not only is Oladipo a good defensive player, he's able to create for others while scoring which should lift some of that burden off of Butler and may keep him fresher for the playoffs but may help extend his window of being a high level player.
I've been watching Oladipo games on and off all season since I expected he was the guy Miami may end up with this trade deadline or in the offseason, some of his shots/moves are just "off" a bit which points to him being rusty since he's not been able to practice/play all that much since the injury like he needs to, to maintain his level of play. I don't expect him to get back to his apex, but he can still be a good scorer, playmaker and defender. If you can't get a top 10 player, he's one of the next best players that Butler and Bam needs to play with.
Houston fans should be pissed at their FO, if Simmons was available they should have gotten him(even if it was to flip him in the future) and instead of taking on LeVert(who would have loved being one of the top options there) they traded for Oladipo who was on the last year of his contract, coming off of being injured and not really willing to stay in Houston. I feel bad for Houston, having a bad owner usually means extended timeframes of just bad basketball teams, just go ask fans about Minnesota, LA with Sterling, Chicago(outside of lucking into MJ), NY... It just sucks being a fan of a badly run franchise.
