And this is why I was adamantly against acquiring him in the first place. He's an injury prone bum living off 1 great season. In before he's re-signed and suits up for 40 games max next year.

To be fair, it was a really fun four-game stretch. I feel for the dude.

Damn sucks for Dipo. I wonder what the recovery is like? Like is he going to miss all of next season?

Let’s just call it as it is, Oladipo is a bum/one hit wonder, he literally only had 1 good season. He doesn’t need to be resigned.

That sucks, I wonder why it took so long to come to this decision. The positive is we didn't give up anything of major value in the trade. Bam is going to have to play like a real star, and Herro/Nunn/Dragic are going to have to really produce if we have any chance of making noise in the playoffs.

Fair to say that trade backfired, but it was worth the punt.

Unless he is dirt cheap, there’s really no reason we can/should retain him at this point.

I think we will see Dipo back on the roster as a reclamation project. He has made an impression with people. Might be a mid-season resigning as a 3rd stringer.

Well obviously, his market will be depressed even more, so a 1 year prove it deal is all that will be on the table . If that. Or you can pivot to Lowry for a 2 year deal. It was worth the gamble to get the bird rights in house. We’ll see what happens this summer.

Key question is whether this is a cleanup of the area or a reconstruction of some sort? A cleanup he’d for sure be back for next year. A reconstruction who the hell knows.

And since it’s the Heat we won’t know by reports any time soon. We may have a good idea with the offer we give him during the off-season.

Just hope the FO doesn't fall trap into a sunk cost fallacy and throw money at Dipo just because we already traded for him. I think a one year "show me" deal for like $15 would be the absolute highest I go and that's probably too high

I think we have his bird rights. I wouldn’t use good money on him but if it’s him vs nothing let’s run the chance back! 1 year deal, team option for second year I’d give.

On the bright side, there's a good chance this means Dipo was playing injured this season (or at least not 100%), so in theory an actual healthy Dipo is better than what we've seen. Question remains tho if a healthy Dipo will ever exist again

This is unfortunate but it was worth the try. We lost very little in the trade in the form of assets (free agent KO) and luckily we found a more fitting replacement in Dedmon for the playoff run. The possibilities defensively and offensively were too good to not even try as we saw in the last few games he played.

Definitely wouldn’t give him anywhere near a $15M deal, even for one year. He wanted to be here, came here and got injured immediately. If he wants to continue to be here, he needs a bigger paycut than to $15M. I wouldn’t pay more than $5M and ideally, he’s on a 1 year, min prove it deal.

According to a source, the tendon was not ruptured this time, raising hope that his absence won’t be as long as the previous time he had a surgery on the same quad tendon.

no way do you re-sign Dipo , that would be a really bad FO decision. Let him walk. Focus on retaining Duncan and dedmon instead.

The team loses nothing to give him a 1 year prove it deal, or perhaps a cheap 2 year deal with a team option on the second year. I’m sure Oladipo will be down for it, they might even be able to sign a real impact player in addition to keeping him. There’s no move out there thats going to hinder them from retaining Duncan and Dedmon if thats what they want to do.
