Hopefully Butler will join in on the 3pt shooting when he gets back, his previous 3 games before this latest time he's out he shot 3, 6, and 3 three pointers, during his time in Miami he's only averaged around 2 3pt shots a game, but with the success that Miami has had with having more 3pt shooting on the court, he needs to help his teammates by jacking catch and shoot open 3pt shots. It would be nice if Bam would shoot 3s but he's playing center, Butler on the other hand is a guard/wing, he's got to make defenses worry about him shooting 3s. This also means Butler needs to be working on his 3pt shot.

Is Caleb Martin our long term Jae Crowder replacement?

P.J. doesn't need to be anywhere near Miami.

we still talking about Crowder? Come on man. He wasn't here long enough to have a "replacement". Tucker is already more valuable.

Would angle for Jalen Smith myself. Liked him during the draft and think he's a quality rotation big.
Would any of you consider moving Duncan for him? I'm not saying I would or wouldn't, but does anyone like him well enough to invest in acquiring him?

Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 21-22 Vol. 1
I was listening to NBA radio this morning and, while listening, they started talking about the Lakers and how LeBron was blaming injuries and COVID protocols for their struggles. We were then mentioned. The comment was, "LeBron, see Miami for a team that knows how to do it." They went on to compare us to the Bulls with the comment being, "Right now, the Bulls are a better team, but when Miami's healthy, they could be much better. Guys like Strus who were on a two way contract you wouldn't worry about. Now they've been tested and come up big when it counts."
People who actually follow the NBA know what we're doing and how important it is. The casuals don't understand us, or the significance. Good.
Let them ignore us. We've got one of the deeper teams in the league, full of players most people haven't heard of. Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, Caleb Martin, KZ Okpala, and Õmer Yurtseven, along with Tyler Herro, Dewayne Dedmon, Victor Oladipo, Kyle Guy (for now?) and even Udonis Haslem bring so much versatility and toughness to the table. I can't wait to see how Spo (who has done a masterful job this year) uses everyone when we're completely healthy.

Big yes to Washington. I’d be very happy with that.

Crowder was a great 3&d player and the ultimate glue guy. Tucker is amazing, but I did say 'long term'. Tucker is closer to 40 then he is to 30. Hence why I was asking ya'll how you felt about Caleb being that guy going forward.

It is amazing considering everyone talked about our depth being a problem this season. They thought we were top heavy and any significant time out by any one of our starters could derail our season.

Yeah, his 3pt shooting earlier in the season was a big concern and still has me questioning how good our healthy SL can be.
Lowry is thriving because he's surrounded by 3 shooters at all times but, with Jimmy, we lose that one guy and we'll be down to just 2. It was a bigger concern with Duncan Robinson, who was struggling at the time, but less of a concern with Max Strus, who's been more consistent. Still, that 3rd 3pt shooter really helps, and Kyle Lowry will probably be required to spot up for 3s when Jimmy has the ball, a role he probably would not rather be forced in to.
I also wonder how Jimmy's isos fit in to our team because, without him, our team relies on ball movement to find good looks. That can have an affect on younger guys who are all of a sudden standing watch as he goes to work. Thankfully, Jimmy's a great iso scorer so it shouldn't affect our scoring too much, but it can also be bad if he's not having a good night and other guys are struggling to find rhythm.

Washington actually a much more efficient shooter than I thought.
2 of our smaller contract guys would get it done salary wise and maybe a pick? Idk where he fits in the rotation though

Lowry/Dipo
Strus/Herro
Jimmy/Duncan
Tucker/???
Bam/Yurt or Dedmon
PJ or Caleb will be the odd man out. Probably Caleb and then he cracks the rotation next season if we make a consolidation trade over the summer? Or even this year?

Magic want a 1st rounder for Bamba do we bite?
@themagicreport
The Magic don’t seem to have the utmost faith in Mo Bamba, especially after rescinding their rights to him before the season started…

Unless Spo is going to play Bam next a 5, then we’ve got no need for Bamba now with the emergence of Yurt7

Pass. If the Magic don't want him, then I don't think we would either.
Still thirsty for Jalen though.

Smith could be had for way less than Duncan. Likely just for a future second rounder
