Re: Miami Heat Regular Season Thread 21-22 Vol. 1
There's a number of reasons why Indiana would entertain a Turner trade:
- their record (9-13)
- his fit with Sabonis
- in a contract year in 21/22, and they don't appear wedded to him longer term
- Pacers seem to want to play smaller/faster
Duncan may appeal for reasons that would otherwise turn off other teams - he's under contract for 5 seasons. For Indiana, a team that never gets Free Agents, having someone long term is important. Robinson has a skillset that can fit in just about any team.
Brogdon
LeVert
Robinson
Holiday
Sabonis
Arguably, they'd be no worse off than their current record.
For us, given we have Herro ready to ascend and could also bring Turner into the starting 5 and shift PJ to the bench to save him for postszn, the fit is obvious. Biggest issue would be Spo and his penchance for small ball too I guess.

I’ll donate my legs if it brings him back to peak cousins.

20 games in, ORTG-DRTG
These are stats that are trying to extract a player's impact on both sides of the ball using the stats of the player and the team when a player is on the court. These are not simply points for the team with a certain player on the court.

Bucks picked up Ja'Vonte Smart on a 2-way. We had our chance to add him I guess, and passed.

Weird to suddenly see all these people jumping on the bandwagon and pining for Myles Turner. I've been on this wave for at least a season now lol.
I don't think it will happen for the sole reason that they're in the east and not that bad of a team. They still may want to experiment to see if they can put something together with their current core. But I will continue to keep my fingers crossed.
That said, maybe if NOP continues to be trash, they look to move Valencunas. He'd be a good fit as well.

On offense...bam is great when he can do something that surprises everyone... when everyone has to say a guy that size can't be so limber
on defense... strength is great when you are playing Center, but it's not everything, not even your best quality... you just need to know how to manipulate other bodies (just a like jiu-jitsu) and the planting of your feet is important... a great example of being under sized is UD... but he was rarely outmaneuvered, didn't have much talent

Valanciunas would be another good fit at the 5 alongside Bam.
Doubt we have the currency for him though. He's balling.

disappointing to hear, he was the best player on Skyforce.
Garret doesn't seem to have enough offensive talent to play in the NBA

I know it’s not a major stat to go by but Strus vs Robinson per 36 is identical with strus being a better rebounder, having better impact on the team, scoring more efficiency ot, and taking like 2-3 less shots (their scoring was 13.5 PPG each). This is all while Strus goes game by game not knowing his role

Strus was also the go to guy on his college team and I think that’s a huge thing at this level, he’s had the pressure all on him and I think you can see that with the confidence he plays with. Duncan has never been that guy. I also noticed Duncan got worse in college as he got older which seems to be the way he’s trending now

I guess I'll post this again. Duncan was signed with Bird rights.
For three months or until January 15 of that season (whichever is later) after re-signing a free agent with Larry Bird or Early Bird rights, if the team is over the cap, the player's new salary is above the minimum, and he receives a raise greater than 20%.

Duncan is not getting traded this year. It’s complicated. What the team needs to do is scale back is role. Half the time all i see is Duncan running around like a chicken without a head looking to get open then heaving up shots. How about just planting him in a corner and taking more relaxed shots.

Duncan's situation is rough and infuriating and I have no patience for it. But Couper Moorhead is here to provide some rational perspective and a sliver of hope in this twitter thread. Let us pray
