:banghead: spo or is yurt done for now?? Surprises after the All-Star? In my opinion and I think most people will agree, Bam is a pf that has the ability to occasionally play center, not the other way around

spo... get off it, it has being a couple of years, he is going to get burned

I think by now we all know what the ideal Center is in Spo's system and how Spo views the Center position relative to how most coaches view it.

A traditional Center is the worst thing you could be when playing for Spo, which is what Yurtz is.

Spo believes in being able to cover ground and switching, whereas a traditional Center clogs the paint and stays back on switches.

Each style has their positives and negatives. Personally, I prefer a traditional Center because they force more jumpshots, can help on drives, and are already in position to box out + rebound.

Bam is a pf that has the ability to occasionally play center,

Yeah. Bam at C largely works is because the league doesn't have a lot of good Cs. If the league did have better Cs, it'd become painfully obvious that it isn't gonna work. But it works for now, at least until we play teams with legit Cs.

With that said, Spo's style has to start proving it can meet/exceed expectations (yes, I'm excluding Bubble season, but I'm also excluding last season, where we got swept in the first round).

Assuming he's a top coach like everyone says he is, he's got the talent this year to win it all.

Personally, I'm at the point where, this season, with the talent he has, he can play 5 Guards for all I care so long as he brings home the title. I'm a Heat fan first regardless of my disagreements with Spo. But if he doesn't win it all? Then yeah, this is where we have to start questioning if Spo's philosophy on basketball can actually win (when he's not gifted LeBron/Bosh/Wade).

I'm giving it some more time as our starters have only played 12 games together and no dipo in our lineup until feb 10th. But I have not liked how we've looked since Bam's return. But I think Bam is rusty.

I hope we can win with Bam. But I'm not sure we can make the finals if we can't get boards against teams. We were doing just fine against the best in the league in that department while Bam was out due to Yurtseven. But now he doesn't see the court and it shows in our defensive scheme and our rebounding thus far. But Yurt played with Lowry...

Yeah, I agree with Bam's return. My two concerns are:

* Building up a big lead and letting teams get back in the game. This is something we experienced earlier in the season with Bam. I'll forgive the Lakers due to bad officiating. But the Clips game was bad and we probably don't win if not for Gabe's amazing 3rd quarter. At least we beat the Knicks by 14.
* Not winning comfortably against mid-tier teams like the Raps, Blazers, Hawks. I think a legit title contender should win these games by around 15-20, although 10 would be acceptable. Blazers was close until the last 5 minutes or so and Hawks we went down by like 18pts. Raps was a B2B so I'll forgive that, but we were down by 20 at one point, which was not good, but is also excused by Herro and Duncan shooting poorly.

Rebounding wise, I think we've been winning the battle statistically, but we're giving up some crucial O-Rebs that's costing us.

But, like you said, I'll wait to get some games under our belt with a full healthy lineup, although I think we'll know enough without Dipo, especially since Gabe is giving us good minutes at PG.

Yurt can hit 3s and we'd be benching Duncan. Bam is a pf, not a center. But Yurt has too many miscues to play with Bam. There's no chemistry there and we need a PG to orchestrate it all.

Yurt might be decent from 3, I don’t like Tucker at the 3. Yurt will get pulled out and switches and cooked like we saw Toronto do with Herro last night.

Lowry
Jimmy
Tucker
Bam
Yurt

You have no high volume shooters in there, especially with Lowry struggling there this season. I don’t like that.

I would never start yurt now, if the Heat fall off from first place ... small ball advocates will lose it and murder The Turk

I mean there’s like 2 games separating 4-5 teams right now we could easily fall with a loss or 2
