Aggressive Bam Tracker

Post#1 » by somerandomdude » Tue Feb 8, 2022 9:57 am

I'll keep tracking this so long as Bam remains aggressive.

Image

The top left is what you're interested in. Boring explanation stuff for the bottom half.

Spoiler:
* Fix MIN: extracts a minute out of the time format (yes I'm lazy)
* Adj FGAs: takes Bam's FGAs in that game, divides by his minutes played, then multiplies it by his season MPG, then floors the result.
* Adj PTS: Same as Adj FGAs, but for PTS.

The top Per Game FGAs / PPG are the sum of Adj FGA / Adj PTS divided by games.

Tracking begins since his first breakthrough of showing more aggression on offense (32pt game against Raps)

Anyway, when you adjust Bam's FGAs/PTS for his season MPG, Bam is averaging an impressive 25.3ppg on 17.5 FGAs over the last four games.

I hope to see him keep this up.

Thanks for this, he seems to have turned over a new leaf. Hopefully he keeps it up. The points compared to FGA is very encouraging and that’s factoring in his stinker in Charlotte. Still waiting for him to take that wrap off his hand that does nothing for him.

I feel his increased aggressiveness has led to more rebounds lately too, maybe I’m wrong.

When your defensive rating is 103 the Heat have the luxury of waiting for your offense to come around.

Don't be fooled by his generic low effort handle name and random young Riley's photo from 90's, this random dude's been solid since he joined.

With that said, Bam is not an aggressive guy in nature. Keeping track of his aggressiveness might be doomed for disappointment. He's a lot like Jimmy in that he couldn't care less if he scored 30 or 10, as long as the team wins them games.

Thank you man, glad you guys are enjoying it.

This team is especially fun to track because of the development aspect. NGL I don't think I'd watch if not for our emerging players.

Thanks lol :D

Sadly, no updates because of Bam being passive for 3 quarters. If he has an aggressive game against the Mavs, I'll include update with both the Nets and Mavs.

Aside from that, here's an interesting article from Wes Goldberg about Bam being more aggressive on offense.

https://wesgoldberg.substack.com/p/miami-heat-bam-adebayo-aggressive-offense

As the Miami Heat boarded the team flight from Boston, Bam Adebayo retreated within his hoodie and ruminated over his role in the team’s worst loss of the season.

It was the last night of January and the Heat had gotten rolled by the Celtics by 30 points. Sure, they were without Jimmy Butler (ankle) and Kyle Lowry (personal reasons), but Adebayo felt as though he had let his teammates down.

“He didn’t take it well,” said assistant coach Malik Allen over the phone. “He took it personal.”

The issue? Adebayo had attempted only 11 shots in his nearly 32 minutes, as many as two-way contract player Caleb Martin. The team’s lone available star, Adebayo played more like a role player, and he knew it. And it gnawed at him.

UPDATE

That last game against the Nets hurt Bam, but he was much better against the Mavs and should've gotten more than 19 touches.

Of note is that he didn't reach the FT line much (1 of 2) and didn't get a basket counted.

Can’t believe we went away from him in the 2nd half. The way we were using him in the first half was literally perfect. Just night and day difference. That can’t happen.

Yup, but Spo doesn't see Bam as that guy, and he chided the "outside people" who think Bam needs to take a certain number of shots.

Spoiler:

Whatever, though. I'm trusting the process until the end of the year. Better bring home the title, this team has enough. LeBron, Wade, and Bosh (and Allen, Battier, Mike Miller, Birdman, etc) are not walking through that door to carry Spoelstra.

UPDATE:
* added FTAs/FTMs (sadly, no big jump)
* Reversed order of games (ascending) so it's easier to add new games

Despite the the previous games of Passive Bam, he's is still averaging 23ppg on 54% FG.
