Oh, my beloved Spo. We've been through so much together. The Wade hero ball years, the Big 3, the Bosh and Whiteside debacle, and now the Butler/Bam/Herro ball years.

We've come full circle from hero ball to Herro ball.

If you've noticed, likely not, I've been pining for you to be traded for a draft asset. Why would I be doing this if you have been consistently above average?

The reason is simple. Although you have shown a propensity to shift strategy in incremental ways over time, i think this season has proven that you are prioritizing philosophy over roster maximization.

What does that mean? Basically, that you have a system that you are trying to fit players into instead of maximizing the players that you have on the roster and creating a system to get the most out of them.

Is this because of Yurt?

Yeah.

It just makes little sense to me how this dude is riding the pine. The team is struggling against height and height has proven to win in this league. Easy baskets, putbacks, offensive rebounds, etc all relieve pressure from the offense and keep points accruing when shots are not falling.

I know you prefer speed, spacing and gang rebounding but we've seen the limitations in that, i know you have too.

(And Yurt can shoot, you know Yurt can shoot it)

I too think we're missing an opportunity to diversify our approach by not playing Yurt and seeing how it might be helpful, at least in certain match-ups.

But there is no "Spo situation".

We're the #1 seed despite missing key guys for long stretches and we don't even have a true elite top 10 player on the roster.

We can't argue with the results. Looking at our talent level and position - We're overachieving.

We may not hit 55 wins in a season where we are going all in on winning now to maximize Jimmy's prime. We signed two aging vets in Tucker and Lowry and traded away Precious and Dragic to make a deep run of it this year.

If we lose in the 1st round, are we really overachieving?

Spo showed us two different styles this season. Why can't he merge those styles? Especially when he had success with the second style arguably even moreso than with the first style?



Spo has done a good job this season but there are perhaps missed opportunities to take the team to a higher level. The playoffs are where he will be most assessed. Let's see how he gets the team to compete. The Celtics win was a good sign, honestly, but if Spo fails early there must be questions asked.

In the rebounding deparment he was the second coming of Shaq, yeah that same department we sorely struggle with

One of the best coaches in the league? based on what? Stats? you would probably call me ignorant if i told you we win in spite of Spoelstra, he never never puts the team in a positional advantage to win, and let me tell you, he better starts to play big or we are going to face a very early exit in the playoffs.

i will ask again what does Dedmond give us that Yurt can not? His defense is iffy, commits a bunch of moving screens every game, and his rebounding is nothing to write home about. This is just another example of the stubborness or lack of vision from our coach.
