What a ridiculous take for two reasons.
1. Oladipo had a major injury and that injury needed surgery, had the surgery where something went wrong and by the time Oladipo knew of the issue because of the pain he had, he decided instead of missing more time he played with the pain. While knowing this issue he said no to extensions on other teams while knowing things weren't 100% because he wanted to get to Miami vs being paid elsewhere, so there's this push by a very talented player to get to Miami which is one of the few ways Miami can acquire higher level talent for pennies on the dollar.
2. I'm not sure you quite understand Miami's salary cap situation currently and for the next few years, with Butler and Bam maxed, Lowry making near 30 mil the next 2 years, Robinson making ~18 mil, Herro on his 3rd year of his rookie contract, Vincent and Strus both only signed 1 more year, Miami doesn't really have many ways to replace talent that you let walk out the door.
So here's the situation, either you keep Oladipo, a 2 way player who has the ability to put up 20 on any given night, pay him a fair price since Miami holds his Bird rights and pay him what you think he'll bring to your team a year after Miami handed 18 million a year to a one dimensional 3pt shooter who can't even crack the playoff rotation. Or do you let Oladipo walk which saves the owner money going less into the tax and replace Oladipo with another minimum level player since Miami doesn't hold any other possible higher level player's Bird rights.
Another reason for resigning Oladipo, expecting him to keep getting better and closer to the player he once was(but not 100% what he once was) lets Miami make other moves on the team to strengthen the roster for the next few years to have a stronger roster going into the playoffs. Miami probably has another 2-4 strong years from Butler, maybe not him at his apex but good enough to be a high level 2 way player still.
Possibly next year... Lowry, Oladipo, Butler, X(Newly acquired better starting big), Bam with a bench of Tucker and some mix of (since players may be moved for the new big) Vincent, Strus, Herro, Robinson, Yurtseven, Martin, Highsmith, Dedmon and 1st round pick this next draft.
Summary: Pay Oladipo which costs the owner more money and gives Miami another possible high level player on the roster or save the owner money and move forward with another vet minimum player since they'll have little to no money for free agents because Oladipo walks. Unless you want to save money and limit the roster's potential you resign Oladipo.
