Beal's contract is hairy--no doubt about it. Worth noting that he will be 33 years old for the last year of his current deal. That's Jimmy's age this season. That's how old Dame will be for the duration of next season (he'll be 36 for the last year of his current deal). Similar to Dame, Beal's game is all skill & shooting. Dame > Beal, but both have the benefit of games that should age well.

OKC has zero reasons to even entertain moving SGA, unless he asks out. Outside of that it’s stupid to think about or discuss.

Yeah thats crazy, SGA is super young hasnt even begun to enter his prime, nobody lets those guys go unless they ask out. My dream next to Bam is a Luka type player, but the chances of that are slim to none.

To give you a better example the reason we got butler was because the team he came from weighed his regular season instead of his playoffs abilities. If butler was a 28-30ppg regular season stud scorer with his defense he would be even more untouchable than Embid himself. Just like Mini, weighed his value on regular season production. Butler would still be a Bulls if he was a legit all around premier scorer.

Our market for trading for a star will almost always be guys that are already 28+. Just based on how the CBA and cap rules are structured, there are nearly never GREAT young players that will be available for trade or in position to call for trade until towards the end of their first max extension.

Luka sweepstakes is prob 2-3 years away before Dallas would even be forced to entertain giving up and trading him. The good thing is Dallas is doing an excellent job of screwing things up, which may push Luka to cause a fuss sooner rather than later. Jason Kidd will be out of there in the next 2 seasons.

Miami does need to get Dragic back on vet min deal and keep him around. Luka needs to be hearing all about what great nba organizations are like.

Can’t find where I saw it, on another website, but someone was proposing Heat should trade for Derozan. Bringing it up since it isn’t a name that is being thrown about much. Mostly Dave and Beal.

The issue with DeRozan is he has a bit of a history of being less than optimal in the playoffs and with both him and Butler being less than great 3-point shooters, you have to wonder how well that would work. DeRozan is also going to be 34 in a few months. That said, he is on a great contract ($28M for next year and then a FA).

I'd still look into it. If Miami could get him for Lowry and a pick, how do you pass? The only way that would be possible, imo, is if Chicago were set on trading Lavine and rebuilding.

My issue with Beal is two-fold: that is a lot of money for a guy who arguably isn't even a top-30 player in the league. And while he is a better player than Herro, is he an upgrade worth $20-25M more per season? I'm not completely sold on that. To use a comparison, we may go through another situation like the one Miami went through with Eddie Jones back in the day. And if it doesn't work out, Beal has a no-trade clause which puts limits on what Miami could do to eventually rectify the situation.

To me, the question is cost. The rumor is that Beal is going to fetch far less than what people might expect. If Miami can get Beal without having to give up Herro and/or a plethora of picks, Miami would be able to use Herro in another trade.

Since this is the fantasy trade thread:

Miami gets Beal and Kispert

Washington gets: Tobias Harris and Miami's 2023 pick

Philadelphia gets: Lowry and Robinson

Then

Miami gets: Lillard

Portland gets: Herro, Oladipo, Jovic, and every pick Miami can legally send

Bam / Zeller?
Love / ??
Butler / Martin
Beal / Kispert / Highsmith
Lillard / Vincent

Miami could then target G Williams, J Crowder, D Saric, Moe Wagner, F Kaminsky...etc. to fill the frontcourt position.

Beal is all you need. Why trade even more assets for a much older dame? Keep it simple

Because Lillard is actually an all-NBA guy and incredibly clutch. Beal is a borderline All-star. I mean, keep in mind, he has only been an All-star 3 times out of 11 years and has only made the All-NBA team once.

Lillard is a 7-time All-star and has made 7 All-NBA teams.

Read my mind, bro.

Bam + Herro for Embiid and PJ Tucker works perfectly. (Though Philly would likely ask for draft compensation to get an MVP in his prime.)

But thisi trade moves the Heat from contender to possible front runner for the title next summer...

Nope. I’ve been very critical of Bam but Embiid has major flaws too and is older. Hard to even consider that swap (Let alone adding Tyler) after Bam literally just anchored a defense all the way to the finals while Joel hasn’t been to even the ECF since the Jimmy days
