Marks is being set up. If he can’t deliver a trade that guts a team of all there prime assets he is going to get fired. No way Tsai approves any of our offers without Bam. It’s over we need to move on. Our name is being used as a pawn at this point. I’m sure Tsai has already turned down our offer but Marks probably would have gone through with it. He knows KD wants him fired.

What do you think is their end game? I cant recall a team with any real championship aspirations having to install a new coaching staff + GM this close to the start of camp. At this point they have to just take the best deal they can get and move on, there is no running it back after KD’s ultimatum

Players getting coaches fired is typical. Although in this case, KD and Kyrie vouched for Nash originally so that's funny. Getting a GM fired is different since you are trying to manipulate the management of the organization. Marks has basically done everything ownership has wanted so it would be a pretty bad look for them to fire Marks at the request of a player, even of Durant's level. Tsai also doesn't strike me as someone that feels like wilting to the desires of a player after all the crap the team has put up between Kyrie and now KD this off-season.

This whole time I've been saying it's worth waiting on KD even if we miss out on some players.

But with this news, I think the situation is a lot more clear.

Nash and Marks are goners. KD stays. Nets still won't win a championship. That's my expectation.

The only teams that KD wants to play for are teams that are well run and successful (maybe not winning a championship, but close to it). These teams aren't going to get swindled in a trade with the Nets for a 34 year old Durant. The Nets think they are dealing with morons. Not every GM is the Timberwolves GM.

The value of BK’s franchise is worth a lot more with KD then it is with Nash, Marks, Duncan, Herro, Lowry, and whatever picks we can muster up. This is a real easy decision for Tsai and his money. If you can’t see that then I don’t know what else to say.

If it were that simple, the trigger would have been pulled already.

I do think kd is moved now and marks and Nash are retained because it sets a really bad precedent if the owner fires marks and Nash

However I don’t expect it to be Miami and think it’ll be Boston or Toronto because nets don’t care where kd wants to go and want the best return possible

The Heat, a racist franchise, or the fans who cheer for your Achilles tear in the finals. Seems like an easy one

Everyone was hoping that Durant was going to tell Tsai Miami or nothing but he ended up giving Tsai an open door for his return. If you were hoping for a pipe dream forced trade to Miami then today is not good news. I honestly think Marks was working in good faith with us but now things have changed. If the owner is not on board then maybe he was not dealing in good faith with Marks. I’m almost inclined to believe that Marks liked our offer and it was rejected by ownership but told us to sit tight.

Keeping KD and firing the head coach and GM is how you loose control of your franchise. In the situation that KD has given Brooklyn you move him to whoever gives you the best offer and not give on bit of thought how KD feels about it, if a trade is close between a destination he wants to go and doesn't want to go, I send him where he doesn't want to go. Also, this isn't prime KD, this is KD on the backend of his career. It's an easy move in my eyes, take a step back, trade KD and Kyrie then trying to go all in with Simmons as your star or at least to build up his value to move him in a year or 2.

Owner could have quelled that with a Marks extension but apparently it was pulled.

There is a phenomenon that has overcome the NBA over the past few seasons. Teams are trading first-round picks and protecting them three, four and sometimes five years into the future.

It’s yet another reason (along with the dizzying asking price, the personalities involved and the mass inflation in the marketplace) that the Utah Jazz have yet to lock in a Donovan Mitchell trade.

Heat’s all-in package

Tyler Herro

2029 first-round swap (unprotected)

One of the packages is from Atlanta which makes no sense after their last trade.
