Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK

Post#1 » by Wiltside » Fri Sep 2, 2022 3:32 am

Almost time for training camp and preseason ball. I’m hyped. Deal or no deal, ready to watch our squad go to work.

Didn’t ICC say after the Knicks made that extension that Utah immediately contacted us to up our offer. That clearly indicates they were interested. Whether it was in good faith or not is another question but the notion that they contacted us tells us they wanted to work out a deal.

The other aspect we are not mentioning are the horrible optics for this front office. I get it, some people dont think highly of Jimmy, he’s not Wade, he’s not Lebron, but dude has gotten us to the finals and was a one man army these past playoffs. Think about that future disgruntled player, he looks at how we honestly haven’t gone all in on Jimmy, what would make player X think they would go all in for him, if they wont for Jimmy and what he has accomplished her thus far? Reputations can be destroyed overnight, thats reality. We are playing with fire here.

Regarding the first part of your post, I think you answered the question. Did you see a report from Shams, Woj or Barry that the Heat was engaged with Utah’s FO? If they reached out, it was only to drive up the price.

As far as the second part, BFRESH put it better than I could, read his post at the end of the last thread.

Is he? There is no indication yet. It might be Strus or Bam at 4 then Yurt at the 5 (prayge).

We will see a glimpse of this in the preseason.

Reasonably unhappy, yeah. Although it sure seems like that’s the intention.

Caleb can bring some of the defensive grit and spacing lost by PJ leaving, but he doesn’t have the bulk to box out and really help on the glass or defend the paint. He and Bam together as a front line in super tiny.

I’d feel better if we acquired a starting calibre 4 and Caleb had spot mins there.

Strus is probably the closest guy on our roster to PJ with respect to height/bulk. Certainly no where near the defender PJ is….

There is also a chance that Days or Highsmith impressed Spo in the training camp. We never know with Spo. He loves that blue-collar 4.

So basically we took a step back wanting rookies to fill in our voids or players who never played in those positions… sweet

You’ll be over it in a few weeks. The pessimist view isnt that sustainable

I'm excited for our season. It's nvr been solely about titles for me. I love to watch our guys, see how hard we fight through obstacles & see how far we come. It's icing on the cake if we make ECF/Finals. Move on & get on w/ basketball.

Screenshot this:

If we win the championship without a major acquisition through trade I’ll give everyone who and-1s this $50. Make the finals I’ll give you $20. Make the ECF I’ll give you $10.

You say you'll give $5 for the play in and you might go broke.

It's much easier to land a Jae Crowder than a top 5 player in Durant

I was never in it to be over it… was always laughing at everyone who said durant was guaranteed.

Return to Miami Heat
