***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2022-2023 Regular Season***

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Mon Oct 3, 2022 3:24 pm

It's that time of the year again - time to get our hopes up before they're crushed by Iggie's jinxing. Team Debbie downer seem to rule the interwebz these days..so let me just highlight that....

Last year we as a collective didn't give the team enough respect, they won 53 games which was 4.5 more wins then our average prediction.

So, will we make the same mistake again?

Last season Prediction thread :
viewtopic.php?f=20&p=93821567

How wisdom of the crowd effect works :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd

So let's get after it - All answers should address the Regular Season :

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2022-2023 season?

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (HighSmith/Omer/Days/Jovic/Garret/Cain/other)?

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

I shoot for the stars. I’ve pivoted from a Herro trade to now trading all our 1sts and Lowry for our final piece to the puzzle. I’ll dig further into this take after seeing what we’re going to get from Dipo in his reps. Gabe proved he could slide in and Impact winning when Lowry went out.

If we’re being honest Lowry and his $30M are redundant when you factor in what Jimmy Bam and Herro are going to bring offensively every night. 3 and D is what we need from the PG position. Gabe can give you that. I will say Lowrys game management and ability to draw charges are elite still.

Sure, I'll go early.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2022-2023 season? 48-34

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? Yes ... 4th seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? Herro 22 ppg, Butler 20 ppg, Bam 20 ppg, Dipo 14 ppg, Lowry 12 ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)? :dontknow:

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (HighSmith/Omer/Days/Jovic/Garret/Cain/other)? Omer I guess. But basically whoever Spo decides to make use of.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? UD

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? Duncan Robinson

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? Probably Jovic and a little salary for some marginal PF.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both) The Heat play at a faster pace.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? Same as always. He's washed, stupid, can't coach ...

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. The Heat lead the NBA in pace.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. Duncan dunks on Embiid's ugly head and then stands over him flexing.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s. It is revealed (again) that Grumpy Heat Fan was right about everything all along ... just like he kept telling us.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year? Success ... reaching the ECF. Failure ... not reaching the ECF.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Guys need to earn their money. We can't have several players underperforming their salaries.

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions? Nets vs Warriors ... Curry wins again.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end? First round. Abject failure.

Post#6 » by IceColdCubano » Tue Oct 4, 2022 4:49 pm

Alright ICC's turn at this.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2022-2023 season? 50-32

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? Yes ... 3r seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? Herro 22 ppg, Bam 20 ppg, Butler 18 ppg, Dipo 16 ppg, Lowry 12 ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)? Dipo as our 6th man will look better than Herro's previous season, Miami will have back to back 6th mans awardees.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (HighSmith/Omer/Days/Jovic/Garret/Cain/other)? Omer will get some serious burn this season and put up some real good per minutes stats.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? Bam firstly will look to score more which will make his all around game look even better, Herro I believe will be right behind showing everyone he is worth the value of his contract. Both of those guys as a 1/2 punch will be regarded top in the league in the pick and roll.

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? I believe Duncan will have a comeback season, but the guy who will disappoint once again is Lowry. His contract is gonna look even worse than Duncans.

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? Depending on how Duncan starts the season, but if Miami goes on a to hold the top 2 seeds in the conference look for Miami not to make any one trade, if they sit around middle of the pack 4-6 or worse look for them to move Duncan, picks or Jovic for a player who can help Miami get homecourt in the playoffs. It doesn't need to be PF it could be best available and if that is PG, look at Lowry to get moved I think he will disappoint this year.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both) 1. The Heat play at a faster pace. 2. The ability to change to different styles and lineups to disrupt the other team, expect the Yurt/Bam lineups to give other bigger teams problems.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? I believe the biggest detractor for Spo has always been about pacing the game and holding on the rotation minutes exactly regardless of whos Hot or whos Cold, he stays with the rotation for far too long. This is good on longer series in playoffs where players could potentially adjust but during the season it will cost us some winnable games.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. Omer Yurtseven will lead the Team in 3pt%, and Bam will lead the team in Free throw attempts per game from his increased aggressiveness. Lastly Dipo will finish top 5 in steals per game/ & Defensive metrics league wide helping his case for 6th man. Bam will finish top 3 in defensive player of the year once again, not because he will be ignored but because of this years enfasis on offense will detract from him going all out on Defense like previous years.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. Bam & Herro go on a 5-7 game winning streak where both of them take turns winning close games and taking over in the 4th quarters.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s. DemonOP becomes the best OP with the Highest win % in the regular season and hold on to the longest streak.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year? Success ... reaching the ECF. Failure ... not reaching the ECF.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Internal improvements and an offense that can adapt based on the type of teams we face. Bam, Herro, Dipo will all three will need the largest incremental improvements from the rest of the team.

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions? Philly vs Nuggets ... Jokic wins his first NBA Championship in a 4-2 series. Embiid vs Jokic series is one for the ages.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end? ECF, lose to Philly in seven games, and PJ goes ham game seven hitting 6/6 corner threes, 10boards, 3 steals showing us we made a huge mistake as the basketball Gods have planned.

I think if as a collective we were less than 10% off the win total, that is pretty impressive.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2022-2023 season?

49-33

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Yes - 5th seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Herro 24-25ppg - Butler 22-23ppg - Bam 19-20ppg - Oladipo 14-15ppg - Lowry 12-13ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?

Edit: Miles Bridges. Riley is a snake in the grass.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (HighSmith/Omer/Days/Jovic/Garret/Cain/other)?

I'm going with Herro here.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Oladipo

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Lowry

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

No trades

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

Lowry plays in 65 games

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

We'll all be angry at whatever offensive scheme he runs

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

I'll say Miami makes and takes a franchise record number of 3s. I think I said that last year, but I am not sure if it happened or not

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

Spo starts sitting Herro down the stretch of games, likely in the playoffs

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

Grumpy will be telling us how different things would be if we'd just kept Nunn instead of Robinson

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Getting into the playoffs healthy is a success; losing a series without winning at least 2 games would be a failure

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

How Miami handles not having a 4

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

East champs: Brooklyn; Western Champs: Golden State

Champs: Golden St.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

buffff....it really depends on who Miami gets matched up with in round 1. It's almost guaranteed to be one of Brooklyn, Boston, Philadelphia, or Milwaukee. I'm still going to stay 2nd round exit.

That's the sure way to get disqualified Eddie my friend.

All submissions should to be delivered before the first game of season.

To be fair to our friend eddie, he gave his prediction on time last season.

Sadly also gave the lowest win prediction and came up last place of all participants.

true sad story.

Re: ***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2022-2023 Regular Season***

Post#18 » by gom » Wed Oct 12, 2022 7:02 pm

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2022-2023 season?

50-32, Three fewer wins than last season, but not because Miami is worse. The EC has improved. The Heat will struggle to start the season but be nearly unbeatable by December.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Yes. 2nd seed.

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Herro: 24 ppg
Bam/Butler: 20 ppg
Robinson: 13 ppg (same total as two seasons ago but higher efficiency)
Dipo/Martin/Strus/Jovic/Lowry: 10 ppg (choose Dipo for the contest)

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the rotation)?

None of these guys are “new” besides Jović, so I’ll pick him. Martin had 23 mpg last season. Dipo played a lot when he wasn’t injured. I suspect injuries will have a role in our season too unfortunately, but at least we are deep.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (HighSmith/Omer/Days/Jovic/Garret/Cain/other)?

Jović.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Tyler Herro will be one of our best players at higher efficiency, but Duncan Robinson will be most improved and surprise us all.

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

The fans. Or rather Bam, but not because he plays poorly. It will be everyone expecting him to be a big scorer, and that’s just not his game.

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

No trades at the deadline. Not a trade but a signing, on April 1, Jamal Cain to a minimum contract.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

No trades at the deadline. Nearly everyone thinks we will dump Duncan Robinson's contract, but it doesn't make a lot of sense, because Max Strus would sign an even larger deal in the off-season (which we cannot match). We will also struggle to keep Vincent, a very good backup point guard.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

“Why does this guy continue not to get Coach of the Year?”

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

Butler gets 5 triple/doubles in a game, but he remains a bad teammate who exploits his rich friends with outrageously priced coffee.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

Nikola Jović levitates like Regan in The Exorcist and truly does raise the roof of ftx Arena.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

IggieCC will start either the first game thread or the first season overview thread and nobody will notice.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Success: A championship. Anything else doesn’t matter.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Injuries. We need to be very careful with load management.

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

Western champions are the Dallas Mavericks led by their MVP, Luka. NBA champions are the Miami Heat.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry winning the championship in American Airlines Center, in Dallas in game 7.
