Miami Heat (10-12) @ Boston Celtics (18-4): Friday 7:30 ET

Post#1 » by 3ammy3uck3ts » Thu Dec 1, 2022 4:43 pm

I’ll sacrifice my undefeated record (4-0 preseason before my title of OP was ripped from my clenches and karma has ruined our early season) for this team and this fan base.

It’s going to be tough to beat these guys AND the refs in Boston but maybe a Jimmy and Dedmon return can put us over the top here. Let’s hope Bams ejection and then harsh words for the refs after the game have shed some light and we’re actually able to get some calls for this next one.

Encouraging trends im seeing against Boston that I’ll be watching for:

Bams last 3 vs Boston: 22.3-8.3-4.7-1.3 on 59% shooting

Herros last 2 vs Boston: 23.5-6-6-1.5 on 50% shooting

These guys are building confidence against the Celtics which could end up being huge for us if we meet them in the playoffs again. They’ve had no answer for these 2 lately. Jimmy will need that help in the playoffs and obviously we’re going to need to make a couple moves to really have a chance.

Need more of this from Bam “no bag” Adebayo for this one.

2 man game worked very well with Herro and Lowry, we got good shots off these actions. When they would focus more on Bam, Herro was making them pay.

Yeah, we go away from Bam/Herro&Kyle 2 man action way too much. Like its working and we start doing some 2 man action/DHO's with our 3pt shooters that have positive results, but my problem is instead of mixing it up and sprinkling the action the moment 2 or 3 of them go in we go to it for a full quarter completely ignoring the other Pick and Roll action that was getting easy buckets. We really need to stop relying so much on the 3ball, its should be an extension of our game schemes not the primary scheme. This team performs better at the Pick and Roll specially now that Bam has taken that next step. However I feel like when Jimmy is in the game "Ira alluded to this the other day as well" Jimmy does not do well on the pick and roll with Bam, along with the fact they also do not do it often either, Ira was saying once Jimmy finds himself in the paint area he is more prone to just take it to the hole than lob it to Bam and by the time he does try to dump it its kinda late/last minute and everyone down there is kinda cluttered together. As much as I love Jimmy and believe he is still our best players, unfortunately our players just aren't the right mix at the moment. Which is why the Herro from the bench worked so well with Bam minutes and no Jimmy. Also we saw how Dipo also had unfavorable minutes next to Jimmy but flourished without him in the games he had the ability to control the pick and roll game. He also looked good in the minutes next to Bam. In other words, Bam & Herro good, Bam & Dipo good, Bam & Jimmy great, Bam, Herro & Jimmy mediocre, Bam, Dipo & Jimmy terrible, Jimmy & Herro below average, Jimmy & Dipo terrible. Our talent just not the right mix.

I agree! I’d like him closer to 12, I think him defending so much on the perimeter is a big factor in that. Let’s see how this roster is constructed after the deadline, may change the scheme for the better or may just fit the current scheme better

We’ll Whiteside was bigger, sat in the paint on defense the whole time, and was a stat chaser so the mindset and play style was different but 15 would be great

Our boy has potential to be unguardable.

If Bam can do this more often, the only way to stop it would be by building a wall.

You know who else they need to build a wall for? Giannis..

Imagine if Spo and Co. got in Bam's ear to do this EVERY single time. :o

I'm fully convinced Bam is just beginning to enter his offensive arc. His best days will include a consistent three point shot, an even better mid-range game, a serviceable post game, and even better footwork.

It'll happen around the time he's 27-28, and he'll average 25 and 9 per game on some of the best defense the league has ever seen. Modern day Kevin Garnett.

And YES, he will absolutely be good enough to be the #1 option on a championship team.

Yes a mini Giannis has been one of my comparisons for him. He may lack the height, length and just unreal physical features of Giannis but he may be more skilled and is a freak in his own way. His jump shot is going to be worlds better than Gianni’s and he constantly has a mismatch.

A cool moment from last night if you go back and watch Bams made shots, he attacked Al off the dribble and hit a little midrange fadeaway (seems to be his go to move in the making) over him with like 3:30 left in the game. Al just shook his head and acknowledged it, probably respecting the effort he sees Bam has put into his development.

You’re my favorite poster.

My goal for peak Bam at minimum, 25-12-4-1-1 on 62TS% while also being the best defender in the world. He has the potential for this, it’s time we commit to him fully and bring out his best version

Our only chance of winning this game, is to get Boston to work their offense uncomfortably. Meaning, we need to be really aggressive on drives, keep them in foul trouble. Be efficient from the 3pt land to limit long rebounds and their ability to get on the break. Stop switching so much and give the guys like Bam, Jimmy, Lowry the chance to stop the Isolation and live with it, the constant switching also detracts from our effort on offense, and allows wide open 3 pointers which they are hitting almost 50%. Also slow the game down, play half court offense, make it drag, perform lots of screens, keep our shooters running for miles to keep their defenders on their toes and expending energy.
