The Heat should sign Whiteside to a 10 day and let him back Bam up. I can't take watching Dedmon anymore

Are we even going to make any trades before the deadline?

Very very likely....were playing the field hard right now looking to cut some salary for next year.

Hope you're right man. The front office has their work cut out for them

So for me, ICCs’s post confirmed the following things I suspected:

- the FO has been hamstrung by ownership’s lack of desire to go into tax and spend to contend (unless it’s a true championship roster)
- ownership (like fans) are frustrated at the crap contracts and swing for the fences style of asset management by the FO
- Jimmy gives less of a **** this year
- Spo is pissed at the roster construction and wants changes
- changes will only happen if they also help dodge tax next season

The whole roster management/FO moves/ownership stinginess is a strange chicken and egg thing. If the FO had made better decision we might have a better team and be in the hunt for that final “over the top” piece with contracts that are valuable enough to get it. But the FO possibly went into an “all or nothing” mentality because of the stinginess. Now we’re in this dumb place where we won’t reset, won’t go all-in and are trying to stay competitive while cutting salary. It’s a treadmill mentality.

We were injuries and/or one piece away from the title last year. It doesn’t get much pointier than that. Yes, it was buoyed by stellar (potentially unrepeatable) production from the bench, but we were still that close. You don’t wait to see what others are doing, you strengthen immediately and make them chase you. Now we’re a middling team and unless things get better we’ll stay there.

I’ve defended Mickey before, but if ICC’s report is on-song then the best thing for the team (as a title chasing franchise) is for him to sell. He’s done a huge job in making the Heat a winning franchise, but the FO has dug a hole, that is in-part due to the restriction placed on it. If they’re allowed to operate with more freedom they can get us out of this, and closer to a title.

It would take a few years and will mean keeping as much of the current salary on the books as possible, and resigning Max/Gabe/Yurt to reasonable (tradable) deals to help make up what will be needed for a consolidation deal. It can be done with or without Jimmy, but needs to be done to keep Bam happy and have him help be a recruiter for the next contender.

The three most commonly used 5th are:
Lowry (17 mins) - 125.8/119.4
Duncan (9 mins) - 111.1/100.0
Gabe (5 mins) - 110.0/81.8

All others have been used less than 5 minutes total.

Had a feeling Gabe was best

I like this idea.

Especially because it would be fun to cut him in 10 days.

Lowry likely destination will be a team wanting a playoff push and believe they can be a playoff factor with the right move.

Personally if I was the Heat I would try hard to get Rui Hachimura. Hachimura is high talent, and he should be easy to resign at a cost friendly deal. A rotation of Bam, Hachimura, Jovic, Orlando and Yurtseven is a good cost friendly big rotation for the future.

This yr rotation

PG: Vincent - Oladipo - Morris
SG: Herro - D. Robinson
SF: Butler - Martin
PF: Hachimura - Highsmith - McDermott
Ce: Adebayo - Dedmon - O. Robinson

Next yr rotation

PG: Vincent - Oladipo - Morris
SG: Herro - D. Robinson
SF: Butler - Martin
PF: Hachimura - Jovic - Highsmith- McDermott
Ce: Adebayo - Yurtseven - O. Robinson - Dedmon

Dedmon and McDermott will be expiring contracts for a trade. The only player the heat will have a tough resign would be Vincent.

A team wanting a playoff push is going to go all in on a 37 year old short fat pg getting paid 30 mil this year and another 30 mil next year? 60 mil in total?

From what I conclude merging all the post that I have read this season... the climax of all the crappy decisions we have made in the past few years starts with the owners, then front office, then pat, then spo?

And it all comes down to being very stingy with money?
