Mr Jimmy Butler - I offer my honest apology to you Sir
I Feel like, and some of the others here as well, owe Jimmy this apology.
We wanted to miss the playoffs because this team looked chitty, the season looked lost - and we wanted to improve our draft position to help the team (and Jimmy) going forward.
Where I **** up in my thinking is this - You don't sell a guy like Jimmy short. You go all out. For him. He deserves it. He EARNED it.
So yea, this team is still deeply flawed. Yes, he still chitty support players around him.
But my god - you should never pass up an opportunity to see Jimmy go up against the best.
This guy just gave us one of the best playoffs performances OF ALL TIME.
AGAINST THE BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE.
AGAINST AN MVP PLAYER.
WITH ALMOST NO HELP FROM HIS OWN TEAM.
He gave us a memory, that whatever happens next with this series - it doesn't even matter.
We'll remember this game, and Jimmy's heart - For a very long time.
And that's why we love this game.
As long as there's a guy like him, as long as there's a guy playing as hard, giving it his all, I will never again make the mistake of passing up an opportunity to see him try to showcase his greatness on the biggest stage.
So **** this draft, thanks Jimmy for getting my head straight, and let's try to shock the world.

I’m sorry for preferring the 14th pick over what I thought would be a 4-5 game series before we get sent home. Now we’re picking 18th and going to win the championship

Re: Mr Jimmy Butler - I offer my honest apology to you Sir
I don't think many fans were truly so obsessed about a late lottery first. Also doesn't make much statistical sense.
14th rank: 7 players with ws/48 of greater than 0.10, which is the minimum acceptable level of contribution. 5 * 0.1 = 0.5, which is 1/2 a win share.
18th rank: 7 players with ws/48 of greater than 0.10, which is the minimum acceptable level of contribution.
There are two players with ws/48 greater than 0.14 for 18th rank and only one for 14th rank. 3 * 0.14 = 0.42, plus two league average players gives 2/3 a win share.
Also, it's not true that he got no help. Duncan hit some 3s. Kyle got critical steals (and, yes, gave up stupid turnovers). Also, Caleb Martin was awesome.

Imagine missing out a chance for Romeo Langford instead of being the only #8 seed in history to beat the #1 seed in 5 games.

Should never have doubted our supreme overlord, Yimmy. Shame on me.

I left this board because of the negativity. Haven't posted, or even read anything here in months. Came back for this thread! Hoping to see some more apologies to Jimmy soon.

We fuked up Wilt.
Jimmy's game isn't pretty, and is so tiring, he works SOOO hard for his points - that some tend to underestimate his effectiveness.
He's been underrated his all life, but this mother fukcer is legit the best player in the playoffs for the second straight year now. That's not even homer talk, he's been that good.
It's hard to believe because he was never regarded in that way, but reality is staring us straight in the face.
We might have the best player in the world right now.

I'm sorry that my incessant negativity drove you away.

But I'm even more sorry that they have been lying to you this whole time. This glass ...

Re: Mr Jimmy Butler - I offer my honest apology to you Sir
I've posted this a few times during the season, but here's the end of season result.
This is the top 10 players of calculated ORTG-DRTG(to get his overall impact on both sides of the court) for a season in the last 25 years with qualifiers of 20+ ppg and 50+ games. Butler is at +23 which is 2 off from #1 for the last quarter century. This is just a simple view without having to go through the whys. He's in incredible company. If I expand it to top 30, he's in there twice with his 2021 season. It blows me away that this FO still hasn't went all in on Butler and Bam.
The issue for Butler is how his particular game is so very taxing on him, he can't go all out without wearing down or having injuries with as much contact as he deals with. Hopefully he continues to prioritize his 3pt shot to actually be a better scorer in both the regular season and playoffs.

Re: Mr Jimmy Butler - I offer my honest apology to you Sir
Well since this thread is up might add my apology as well. I wasn't much of a fan for the trade to land Butler here. Compounding my issues with Butler is the contract in light of his age. But after these few seasons, I've come around to respect Butler as a player to the point that he garners my admiration to stand with Zo and Brian Grant as my favorite Heat Player of all time. He has built himself from the obscurity to become the things of nightmares for other teams. Mad respect for the exceptional hard work this man has put in. Am glad he has proved me wrong.

I’m sorry to Jimmy Butler for wanting to lose the play in games at the chance of a higher draft pick.
This playoff run has been a memorable one so far watching how hard Butler is working and seeing how he responds to these challenges is something special to watch.

Jimmy Butler achieved the impossible. He turned tens of thousands of Chicago Bulls fans into Miami Heat fans, come playoff time. Talk about an unnatural act ...

I put Jimmy above Lebron easy. Give Jimmy prime Wade & his winning a million rings. Hell give Jimmy Bosh & he'd prob have a ring already. Jimmy has been doing what his been doing w/ Bam as his 2nd leading scorer

Wade above Jimmy because of 06 'ship.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

I cant think of someone who has done more with less....
Bam (this point in his career) at best would be the 4th most talented player during the Lebron era.

I'm getting old but i also can't think of a player playing in a team that is comprised of 8 undrafted players, missing their 20ppg player & achieving this much success in the playoffs, while putting up top numbers. Just incredible.

What Jimmy has done is amazing and I definitely like him far more than Heat LeBron but he is not ahead of LeBron all time with the Heat. Not even close yet. Dude was 4 times 1st team all nba, 2 time champion, 2 time finals mvp, 2 time mvp, got shafted for a DPOY and I’m sure was 4 time 1st or 2nd team all defense. Jimmy is amazing but he’s got to get the accolades to back it up if we’re talking all time
