Pretty sure the fact that HeatVols is OP means we’re signing Oliver Miller to man the 5.
God help us all.

If we can acquire BOTH Lopez and Dame then we're instantly big 3 tier in terms of brute star power

I posted this in the season thread but I'll post it here too.
Heres the situation we in right now.
With Gabe, Max, Yurt as FA's that we hold Bird rights for this offseason.
FAs we don't have Bird rights for - Love and Zeller.
Miami is currently owing 183mil in contracts if we retain our FAs bird rights. If we let those 3 walk then we owe 177.5mil to 9 players,
Jimmy 45mil
Bam 32mil
Lowry 29.6mil
Herro 27mil
Robinson 18.1mil
Oladipo 9.8mil (Player Option)
Martin 6.3mil
Jovic 2.3mil
Highsmith 1.9mil
The Salary Cap expected to be 134mil and Tax line 162mil. The league has introduced the second tax apron which is roughly 179.5mil (17.5mil above tax line) If we go over that line we will lose the ability to trade our FRP 7yrs out and will only have access to trade picks within the next 6yrs.
So basically that means if we want to trade our 2030 FRP then we will need to either let;
Gabe/Yurt walk and keep Max/Highsmith
Max/Yurt/Highsmith walk and keep Gabe.
There might be some way we are able to manipulate the cap to be able to waive Yurt and Highsmith and possibly keep Strus and Gabe while being able to still trade our 2030 pick but ultimately depends on the numbers the league settle on.
Best case scenario Oladipo doesn't take his PO which would allow us to retain all 3 of Gabe/Strus/Yurt cap holds and keep Highsmith while being able to trade our 2030 pick.
After that we can make whatever trades we want with Herro, Lowry, Robinson, Martin, Jovic and our 2023 pick, 2028 pick and 2030 pick and then be able to go over that number to retain our players with Bird rights, sign Vet min players and use our mini MLE as long as we don't take back more salary

Everyone should give up on the idea of getting Lopez. I'd imagine he'd command at least 20-25mil in the offseason.
The best we will be able to offer any free agent is 6.8mil with our mini MLE.
Only way we'd get anyone else with a higher salary is if we do a S&T. Looking into this more it seems this isnt a possibility for us. For one MIL not going to help the team that eliminated them get better. Two if Miami complete a S&T that means that we'd be hard capped which means our salaries would need to be kept below 169mil outside of vet min and two way signings.
The only way that would be possible for Miami is if we renounce all our free agents Vincent, Strus and Yurt, Waive Haywood Highsmith's non guaranteed contract and Victor Oladipo opts out of his Player option.
Seems like the only way we are going to be able to improve the roster is by trading for players under contract, resigning our own guys or through the draft.

I appreciated the season. You don't always need to win the Championship to consider the season a success. This post season run has been a treat. But it is now time to learn from the the two Finals losses. The Heat need more athletic size. Our inability to guard Jokic sucked. The Bulls teams always had a center that can guard a big guy that can hit jump shots. Let's draft or trade for one. You will face teams with size at some point. I also feel that our style of defense wears the players down during the season. Let's not pretend that the Heat don't seem to always have a ton of injuries.

I appreciate what Bam does on a night to night basis. He definitely is an elite defender. Jokic is the only guy that he can't guard. To counter that, Bam needs to take some lessons from Jimmy Butler from the mid post. Bam has a quickness advantage on Jokic. He should be able to draw fouls on Jokic. He should also be able to bury the midpost jumper against Jokic all day long. Jokic gave him that shot all the series. Bam needs to be better. I hope this experience of misery will inspire greatness. The great ones hate losing.

Considering how well we did with the **** we have on our roster, just imagine how well we could do with decent players.

That's why i'm willing to go all in one Lilard + Grant.
I trust Spo to replace everyone (not names Jimmy and Bam) with undrafted/vet min players.
Get the best 4 players we can and let our development/coaching fill out the rest ogf the team around them.

I was pushing for this too but after looking into this more I don't think this is a possibility. Completing a S&T would trigger the hard cap and we'd be required to keep our salaries below 169mil. We currently owe 178mil to the players under contract next season.
Only path to a S&T would be for Oladipo to opt out and for us to waive Highsmith which would get us to 168.7mil then we could complete the S&T which at minimum would cost us Herro, Lowry, Jovic and Robinson to acquire both Lillard and Grant's salaries and stay below 169mil.
At that point our roster would be
Lillard/???/???
Martin/???/???
Butler/???/???
Grant/???/???
Bam/???/???
The rest of the roster would need to be Vet min players, 2nd round picks or two-way guys.
I don't think this is viable.
