Serbian doctors just call everything minor lol. Nikola Topic minor knee sprain aka Torn ACL. The way this his headed I wouldn't be shocked if Jovic is dealing with a fractured ankle.

Watching Jovic on the world stage would have been a nice pass time over the summer… and good for his development. Oh well.

“ However, Meridian Sport reports that the Miami Heat forward and 2023 FIBA World Cup silver medalist is likely to miss the Olympics due to an apparent fracture of the ankle joint.”

Dude you scared the poop right out of me, I'm pretty sure it was getting pushed out by my heart sinking lol. "Fractured ankle" was the first two words my eyes laid on and thought it was a confirmed report XD

Guy kinda plays like UD did way back in the day

Not really high on his mobility, and he has a low ceiling, but he could be a grindy glue guy given the opportunity. I could see him becoming a valuable piece of the roster.

Seems like a good teammate who can hit open jumpers, hustle, rebound, and defend. Got to work like UD to stick, would be cool to see that torch passed.

I am sure your guess would be better then mine....but...from what I saw. dude is a legit fast break threat..i think his points per fast break was in the 90th percentile. I think he has some burst and cam play a bit above the rim....either way...what a great thing to talk about...we are in such a better place right now then we use to be wondering if Winslow could even make a layup.

Quit letting the market dictate a player's worth because there's a salary cap in place that sometimes limits a player's contract or lets a player get way overpaid. Good lord, Herro got 30 mil and people said that's what the market dictated, same with Robinson even with a possible replacement already on the roster... neither were worth that money and with that, move them in a sign and trade and get some assets or better value players/contracts on the roster.

I hard disagree with this, were moving into a new CBA era, theres no longer middle ground contracts the sooner we realize this the easier it will be. Your going to have to walk me through your idea of how he is worth that money, because it makes no sense to me. Do not mention he should have been ECF MVP in one playoff series vs the Celts when he wasn't scouted, and does what role players should do pick up the slack for a short period of time. Did you know that Caleb was in the top 10 of worst at rim FG% last season, he has a history of degenerate knee arthritis condition and flare ups, was also below average in all defensive analytical categories and has only been a plus defender 1 season out of his career with the Miami heat, vs just being average or below after that.

What I do know is that at 15 mil a year he'd play both sides of the court vs just offensive on side and escorting the guy he's defending to the rim.

I don't really care about the CBA because it won't matter soon for Miami soon because they'll get back to being under the tax like it had been for years before finally going into the tax last year, it'll be back to business as usual.

Martin, good defender, decent/average offensive option. After his opt in season, he'd be around 15 mil a season?
Herro, terrible defender, high volume average at best efficiency scorer. 30 mil
Robinson, bad defender, low volume but good efficiency scorer. 19 mil

I can go look at their calculated on/off numbers for last year...
Martin +1.2 per100
Herro -2.2. per100
Robinson -3.9 per100
https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIA/2024/on-off/

If you go off NBA.com's on off per 100 which is just what happens when they're on the court even if they aren't contributing...
Martin +1.9
Herro +1.0
Robinson +0.5

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/advanced?PerMode=Per100Possessions&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&TeamID=1610612748&dir=A&sort=NET_RATING

This was a down season for Martin.

I don't care too much about last year's ECF run with Martin, it doesn't sway me one way or another, he just got hot for part of a series. He defends ok to well from 1-4, has a decent 3pt shot, and athletic enough to attack the basket if given a lane.

IceColdCubano wrote:I get it, we have this idea of what Caleb is in our heads because of a couple games in the playoffs, but to continue to give role players bloated contracts is asinine. Also what a terrible comp with Herro for so many reasons, where Herro was seen as an overpay as well and look how that turned out. Also the reason his contract is warped has more to do with all the 6.5M dollars in incentives added on that count towards the cap in the new CBA. If Herro was 22-25M like he should of been nobody would be batting an eye right now.

We? That ECF has nothing to do with me valuing Martin, it probably won't ever happen again but anyone who's talented can get hot for a game to possibly a few weeks.

I value solid contract value role players if they play a good chunk of minutes. What I don't value is overpaying a top offensive option for a team that isn't efficient yet jacks up the most shots on the team. I think Herro should be a catch and shoot SG and with that, he'd just be a high-level role player so anything near 30 mil is nuts to me.

It's just upsetting to me to see people fine with paying players like Herro and Robinson about 50 million a year but whoa with paying those guys playing both sides of the ball even a third of that. That much money going to offensive only players and still Miami is near the bottom of the league in offense and in the tax.

Fractured ankle, yeah that's not fun. I'm still working on losing the weight I picked up from mine when it put me in a wheelchair for a few months (also had shattered elbow).

For the "make a move just to make a move" camp, reminder, this is how we wound up with Terry Rozier in the first place. Also, this in the past has led to wonderful trades like getting Mark Blount and Ricky Davis for Antoine Walker (honestly no winners there, but we took on more salary so we were more of a loser).

Nothing but respect for him. He is living his dream, he is in NY, he is the face of the franchise, he is making a fortune off the court in endorsements. Most importantly he will make back a good chunk of that money when he opts out. No way he does this if he doesn't trust the front office. This is like UD taking a pay cut on steroids.
