***Our Annual - Predict The Heat 2024-2025 Regular Season***

Post#1 » by RexBoyWonder » Tue Oct 8, 2024 11:53 am

So....It's that time again. Time for hopes and dreams to get slapped by reality.

Last year we were pretty close as a collective, our average prediction was 47.7 Wins and we ended up with 46 wins last season. Was good enough to end up a 8 seed. ROUGH season.

We did inject some fresh blood this offseason, but how much better do you expect this season to go?

Last season Prediction thread :
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2322601&hilit=predict+2023

How wisdom of the crowd effect works :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisdom_of_the_crowd

So let's get after it - All answers should address the Regular Season :

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)?

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

50.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

3, behind Boston and Knicks.

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Bam Adebayo 21.3 ppg
Jimmy Butler 20.8 ppg
Tyler Herro 19.9 ppg
Terry Rozier 18.1 ppg
Jaime Jaquez Jr 16.2 ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition new to the regular rotation?

Kelal Ware.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)?

Jaime Jaquez Jr.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Bam will make the 3 point shooting a part of his game that puts him at the next level of player, which is more significant, but statistically not that big a jump. Jaime will see bigger statistical improvement.

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Duncan Robinson will get lost in the wing glut.

No big trades this year.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

3ammy goes 3uper 3ammy after my Bam predictions come true.

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Play-In = failure
Top 4 seed and 2nd round = success (but I want more)

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Injuries, and attitudes (Jimmy and Herro)

16) What are your picks for [b]Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

Knicks and OKC. Knicks.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

You really think he'll get enough playing time?

I can easily see Jamie, Jovic, Larsson and even Keshad getting way more minutes. This is Spo.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

50.

That just feels WAY overoptimistic. The competition got better, Our best player is in a weird contract situation, Not sure how you can really believe we'll outplay the Bucks/Sixers/Pacers/Cavs - it would take some very unexpected developments....

For Question 4, it is only players "new to the regular rotation", so Jaime and Jovic are out, they were already in the regular rotation. So Larsson and Keshad could get more mins from your list. But there are soooo many wings, I don't know. I am high on Larsson, but I am looking at Jimmy in contract year trying to play near 82, Herro trying to prove he isn't injury prone, Jaime I have as our most improved, I think Jovic will also improve, I've even marked Duncan as falling out of rotation due to the log jam, that's not even counting Highsmith, Richardson and Burks. I think Ware will be a rotation player, Bam is our franchise now and he wants to be PF. They will try to make that lineup work.

For Question 1, I mean I am just a flat out homer. I am regretting even picking Heat to lose in 2nd round. I always go high, Heat always win the championship. So take mine with a grain of salt. But Philly to me, will be injured, so will Milwaukee. I think Heat can be on Cavs and Indy level.

But Heat were 46-36 last year with Herro missing half a season, Rozier and Jimmy missing a bunch. We lose 110-108 to Wiz, lose 109-108 to Atl, lose 102-97 to Bulls, and 109-105 to Nets. We win those 4 and we are 3rd seed with 50 wins. Not a giant stretch.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

45

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Yes. Miami will be the 7th seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Butler 22-23ppg Herro 20-21ppg Adebayo 18-19ppg Rozier 15-16ppg JJJ 13-14ppg

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?

no one new will get enough run

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)?

JJJ

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Butler. Mainly because I think he'll manage to stay on the court and he'll take the regular season a bit more seriously given he'll be a FA

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Hard choice between Jovic or Herro. I'll just go with both

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

It's hard for me to imagine Riley trading Butler, but he's the most likely candidate if Miami underperforms.

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

Miami will be worse defensively but better offensively than last year

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

I think he'll get a pass from posters this year

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

Bam will make a career-high # of 3s

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

seeing Miami with Rozier, Herro, and Robinson on the court at the same time

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

The calls by many to make a major trade as Miami hovers in play-in territory

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

If Miami can make the playoffs without having to deal with the play-in would be a success ; a failure would be no significant progress from most or all of Miami's major contributors and realizing the pieces Miami have simply don't fit together

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Health and probably Miami's ability to re-balance the roster via a trade

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

EC Champions: Boston
WC Champions: OKC

NBA Champion: Boston

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

I think Miami will qualify for the play-in and be eliminated in the 1st round by either Boston or NY

Yes, 4th seed

I think a 55 win, 4th seed would be fairly unlikely.

I looked back 15 years in the East and had to go to 2010-2011 to find an East where 55 wins would have gotten you 4th. 62/58/56/52 were the top 4 seeds (so the 4th seed Orlando would have had to win 3 more), though the West did have a 55 win 4th seed that year, so it is possible...

Though I think with the draft changes to make the bottoming out teams equal odds means the worst teams aren't as bad, and the tanking isn't as bad either. And with all the traded draft picks, there is also a lot less positioning, I don't think in recent years you see a lot of teams with 55+ in a year.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

48

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Yes. 5f.

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Herro: 23
Jimmy: 21
Bam: 18
Rozier: 17
JJJ: 14

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?

Larsson. But I don’t think anyone new will get a lot of playing time, and we see similar rotation as last year.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)?

JJJ

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Herro

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Jovic

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

Probably something involving Duncan and getting another PF/C

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

End the season not being a play-in team.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

Offense improved.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

Herro plays over 70 games.

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season.

Spo finally shaves it off.

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s.

Idk

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year?

Success is not being play-in. Failure is missing playoffs.

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year?

Bam becoming consistent three point threat.

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions?

Heats win the title by defeating OKC.

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

Championship.

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season? 48

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be? yes 6th seed

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be? This one is hard. It depends a lot on who can stay healthy. 1. Bam 23 2. Herro 21 3. Butler 21 4. Terry 17 5. Jacques 14

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)? I didnt watch preseason, so can't say. For the young players from last season. Jamie will continue to improve. Jovic i'm worried about. Seems from posts here, he didn't have a great preseason.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)? Jamie

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year? Jamie

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment? Rozier

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)? FO would like to trade to trade Herro, Rozier and Duncan. But I don't see any takes for the first 2, so no major trades. I can see a trade to dump salary. We won't see a major ovehaul till the summer

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both) I didn't watch preseason so maybe one of the 2 way or unsigned guys breaks out. Bam has a chance at All NBA if Heat can somehow get to top 4 seed in the East.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over? Nothing new really. If it's another meh season people will be whinning about Spo playing small and spo offense. For Heat media I think more people are gonna be on Riley's a$$ than Spo. If they get bounced in 1st round, I think you'll start hearing from some Heat media that Riley should retire. I can see the 5reasons guys pushing it. And might be a legit question. Maybe its time for someone else to run HO

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player. Bam will shoot a higher % from 3 than Herro, second only to Robinson. But Herro still be the better shooter because he will attempt a lot more

12) Predict the weirdest moment of the season. The moment when Herro, Butler, Bam all get hurt and some random 2 way guys carries the heat or Duncan Robinson looks like Klay. Happens pretty much every season

13) Predict a RealGM Heat-board development you expect to see with a long time poster/s. Nothing new. Season to season everyone here is pretty much consistent in their views. We can all pretty much guess what we will all say on each players. I think tho the last contigent of Herro supporters, will abandon ship. I don't know how many there are still. I was one but improvement season to season isn't there. At some point you are what you are. He isn't a bad player, just not a 30+ mil player more in the 18 - 20 mil dollar range. I hope I'm wrong and he can jump a level up

14) What will you consider a success/failure this year? Failure not making into 1st round. Success getting to 2nd round. There are just teams way better if everyone is healthy

15) What will be the biggest factor to impact our success or failure this year? Same as every season : 3 point shooting % and health. If we shoot well from 3, we can likely make it to top 6 seed. Butler and Herro and probably Rozier will miss time so we need that 3 point shooting to carry us in the games where we are missing guys

16) What are your picks for Eastern champions, Western champions - and finally NBA Champions? Boston, OKC, Boston champs (hoping for OKC though)

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end? 1st round exit, if we are 6th seed or below. 2nd round if we can make it to 4 or 5

Post#13 » by gom » Mon Oct 21, 2024 7:20 pm

Yes, let's get after it:

1) How many wins will the Heat have in the 2024-2025 season?

48.

2) Will we make the playoffs this year? If yes - what seed will we be?

Yes. Miami has no draft pick this season. We are not going to give away a lottery pick. Competition is tough in the East though. I predict Miami has a 5th place finish behind Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Cleveland. I have Orlando as 6th. Milwaukee will disappoint.

3) Who will be our top 5 leading scorers, and what will their PPG be?

Herro: 22 (last season 20.8), Bam: 22 (up from 19), Butler: 20 (last season 20.8), Rozier: 18, Jovic: 13 (short minutes in games will reduce averages for robinson, jaquez, and ware).

4) Who will be our best overall new addition (new to the regular rotation)?

Rozier and Jovic are no longer new additions, so I will go with Ware.

5) Who will be our best overall young/inexperienced player? (Jovic/Jamie/Larsson/Ware/Josh Christopher/Keshad)?

Jovic. I don't see others besides Jamie getting major minutes, but I hope Ware is ahead of Bryant in the rotation by the end of the season. There are too many guards ahead of Larsson.

6) Which player will make the biggest improvement from last year?

Bam from 19 to 22 ppg.

7) Who will be the biggest disappointment?

Robinson. He will need minutes to keep his game going, and there just aren't as many opportunities unless someone is injured.

8) What trades will we end up doing during the year (or even before the season starts)?

If Milwaukee does not perform well (as I suspect), Dame could be available. Miami might be tempted. It is *still* a mistake, but Herro, Robinson, Jaime, and Ware would be a haul for them. Don't do it. (FOX IS RIGHT THERE in SACRAMENTO, pat)

9) What will be the biggest surprise of the season? (positive or negative or both)

Butler gets a 3-yr max extension. I think it's positive. I know many here don't.

10) What will our board posters write about Spo once this season is over?

Spo does not give our young players enough court time.

11) Predict a nice/interesting statistical nugget you can see happening with the team or a player.

NBA FINALS CHAMPIONS: MIAMI HEAT, 7 Games, in Los Angeles. The league is wrecked. Ha!

17) Bonus playoff question - How far will we get in the playoffs and how will our season end?

I think I've already answered that.
