No one said All Star selection though, just All Star

Though I think technically, replacements are All Star selections, they are just selected by the commissioner or whomever. And they still get the 'All Star' determination. I always found that variable funny though that some years there are 24, other years there could be 30 or whatever if there are enough injuries, and the injured player remains an All Star too.

Kyle Korver got it because the Atlanta Hawks were somewhat inexplicably leading the East with Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, Paul Millsap and Al Horford leading the way and no one player really performing at a star level (Millsap with 16.7 ppg and 7.8 rpg probably the most impressive of the bunch). So all four got in. One of the weirdest All Star Games of representation!

On the one hand, I'm shocked Korver was an all-star, I totally forgot that happened. On the other, boy is he a guy who could have benefited if his career had started 10 years later, he might be a multiple time all-star. I could easily see him averaging 20+ in this NBA and being a team's #2 or #3 option. OK maybe not #2, but he was absolutely lights out from 3, arguably the best pure shooter that doesn't get mentioned enough. People talk about J.J. Redick like that, but Korver was better.

Korver was a great shooter, incredible movement shooter in addition to a spot up guy. But he could never attack close outs reliably which would massively hold him back from having a larger role than what he had when he played. Even if his career started later he likely tops out around as a worse Michael Porter Jr in terms of caliber of player that he could be.
