Why do we do this to ourselves. Anyway let's go Heat. Try not to rely too heavily on one guy. We should go inside all day until they can stop it.

i smell a loss but will watch anyway. this season needs to end so the heat has a proper rebuild. maybe pat will retire this offseason. my guess is that randy pfund will get that position thats why he was brought back in... or maybe just maybe spo takes it

Head: "Losing now gets them the best draft position since 2015. Plus, they are about as likely to win a title this year as Jimmy dunking from the free-throw line, lose and get that draft pick!"

Heart: "But they are the Miami Heat! Probably sneak out of the play-in as a 10-seed. SpoBot will summon the playoff voodoo again, and they'll annoyingly drag the Cavs into seven games."

End this season. No silver lining to this season to take into next year. No generational player to give more playoff experience to for development. This is just a bad season with nothing to build off. Heat management needs to take nothing from this season as a positive and focus on full rebuild. Give Spo a 4 month sabbatical till August and reconstruct.

I thought it didn't matter whether the Heat lost in this game or the next play-in game, as far as draft position?

If so, I'd rather eek out one more Heat game before the season is over. Wouldn't mind knocking out the annoying ass Bulls and the GOAT Michael Giddey either.

I think Miami puts together a good game and beats Chicago. And unfortunately, I think Miami beats Atlanta and becomes the 8th seed.

It'll be interesting to see how Herro does and how aggressive Bam is on offense.

That said, I'd like to see Miami end up with two lotto picks, so I am hoping Chicago knocks Miami out and GS manages to get knocked out as well. Miami ends up with #1 and GS's late lotto pick.

Nah, if heat win both games in the play-in we'd become the 8th seed and have the 15th pick in the draft. But we owe our pick to OKC, but it's top 14 protected. So if we make playoffs, our pick goes to OKC. If we lose we have the 11th pick.

Here's a more detailed breakdown (IF WE LOSE):
No. 1 pick: 2.0%
Top-4 pick: 9.4%
Lottery position: 11th
Chance of remaining at No. 11: 77.6%
Chance of dropping to No. 12: 12.6%
Chance of falling to No. 13 or 14: Less than 1%

That wasn't what I was talking about though...

I didn't say anything about winning both games in the play-in. I said "I thought it didn't matter whether the Heat lost in this game or the next play-in game". Meaning that if we win the first play in game and then lose the second, or lose the first and are immediately eliminated, the draft position wouldn't change.

I don’t want to sound like a downer brehs. I am a realist. If there’s a discussion of facts let’s have it.

We are a team that doesn't know what it wants. Do we want to win our want to lose. The late flurry of wins really out us in no mans land for the draft. If we wants to win we should have stopped the lineup nonsense a long time ago. Smart play is to lose for a chance to improve. Ownership probably wants the 10th seed for more post season money. Compensation should change for 9th and 10th seeds imo. Part of me wants to win just enough to spoil the bucks or celtics chances. This year just doesn't seem exciting. Miami wins and gets the 8th seed. Book it.

I’m personally partial to a non-embarrassing or heartbreaking loss. Get the draft pick, do a draft night trade using it to get either KD or more favorable protection from OKC (maybe #11 for one of their later picks and removing future owed pick obligations) if you have to, and get back to building a title contender this summer.
