Riley, in fact, revealed Monday for the first time the seriousness of the surgery Wade underwent on his left shoulder last May.
"I don't think anybody realizes how bad this was." Riley said. "It was a reverse dislocation, which doesn't happen that much. And he had nerve damage."
IMO, just have him shut it down, get everything right, play the Olympics if he insists and be ready in the fall. We can't afford his injuries to linger into next season.

what if he'll never be "right" again? Sounds bad, nerve damage, we'll have to ask board orthopedist MiaFLsurf what it means when he shows up.

Oy. But we've seen glimpses of his former self, so it's not like he can't do it. He just can;t do it regularly, which is why I think he needs to take time off.

So did they just realize how serious the injury was or did they know how serious it was before???

I'm sure they realized how serious it was when he first dislocated it. But if DW's been cleared to play as many games as he has this season, he's probably healed enough to the point where it shouldn't be *too* much concern.
But now, if the team continues losing Riley's got a great excuse to "tank" the season. He can rest DW and Shaq for shoulder and hip "treatment."

That is what I'm hoping too. If they just found out about the shoulder having suffered more extensive damage than they had previously thought than it means Wade will to take time off and possibly go under the knife again.
However, if they already knew about it than it isn't a serious problem, since Wade was determined healthy enough to be back on the court.
I'm hoping Riley was being a bit vague on the time table of when they discovered the nerve damage, so he could use it as an excuse to give Wade and Shaq time off and collect more losses for a high lottery pick.

Dwyane Wade wrote:I think I just reached a point where I understand this is how my body is going to feel,'' Wade said. "After taking so many days off you feel you're going to come back and feel better and when you don't this is just how it's going to be.

I hope this is just pessimism.

"Sometimes it's like having a nightmare and never waking up from it," said Wade, who practiced Monday but still is battling several ailments. "Game after game, day after day you can't believe that it's happening to you, but it is."
This kind made me laugh.

Great...we gave him a great deal and now he's hurt for the rest of his career...it's karma.

Heads should roll on your medical/training staff in light of this. There is no way D-Wade should have put off surgery to try and come back last season. He should have been out for the season - forced out even if he was staunchly against it. Here in Detroit our trainer Arnie Kander has final say regarding the players - what he says goes, no questions asked.

I didn't say he doesn't...I'm just saying it's bad luck...he has an injury that will linger for the rest of his career and he's our max player and a guy that may never be the same Wade that won us the ring.

Given this information, it's really stupid not to have shut him down last year. I would be very cautious with him this year.

Wade is starting today. I guess they already knew about the severity of the injury before and treated it.

Stoudemire's injury was horrible too and he is back as good as ever.
Wade's injury was pretty bad, but a lot of injuries are and guys recover just about to 100% or they adjust their game some and are just as good as they were before.
Its not Wade's shooting shoulder, so at least that is the good part.
